I bet 500$ you can find a forum that'll help you with any piracy issue you have.
dude
your POSTING on a forum AS WE SPEAK. People help with gmod issues all the time with no paycheck or anything.
So you think waiting for hours + taking the advice of random people with no obligation is a greater value than the EA chat which is available 24/7 and has people who are paid to at least try to do something?
[editline]23rd November 2012[/editline]
You keep assuming I am retarded. It's difficult to take you seriously when every other line out of your mouth is questioning my intelligence.

lmao
you actually believe that there's some small elite band of paid guys that sits there answering literally every question you have?
People come to you with answers when you call out to them. They debate them, they discuss and resolve it. You don't need a paycheck to do this, this even happens within facepunch itself. You don't think pirates will do the same?
You keep assuming I am retarded. It's difficult to take you seriously when every other line out of your mouth is questioning my intelligence.
Honestly, I don't take any of it back, and you take me seriously enough to reply. The proof is in front of you and you won't even look at it.

See. This is your problem. You keep assuming I am a fucking retard.
This is very simple:
Do you think that a professional, or at least paid help service, is of higher value than a voluntary one?

Calling out to a large band of people that will have at least 1 person that can help you will be more effective, I've seen it happen and I've done it millions and times, over and over. And with "Offical" support, I've not gotten the same benefit because these "Paid" workers are busy with more people and get a lot of shit, and will probably be in a shitty attitude, whilst the quanity (and quality) of the forum people that aren't paid will be more empathetic and patient with my issues and help me to resolve them more effectively, they also will likely aid me to learn how to fix things themselves as well and since they actively are consumers of said product they will know what it's like to be in my position. Mostly only people that care to help, and have help, will come.
In other words, unless it concerns a genuine service issue or unique problem that you don't find with piracy, I don't want to speak to anyone that's paid, ever. Infact, there are more than likely way more professionals on a forum than in tech support.
I can still get tech support like that via forums, and like I said, with piracy you don't have to worry about service issues like paid DRM versions. This is why people enjoy piracy. I generally don't run into issues anyways and am happy with steam and believe others should be as well, and believe they should, as individuals, not pirate, but it's also the devs and publishers responsibility to treat their consumers with integrity and respect and give them what they want. This is why arresting people for minor piracy is retarded.

Well then apparently every issue will be taken care of by a dedicated staff of volunteers who are top-notch, fresh and rested, and willing to help you with every little problem. Hell, why does anyone even hire customer service, right? Random volunteers are the best!
Isn't it fun when I assume that you are completely fucking retarded?

You see, now this is exactly why I say you're retarded, because you're acting like a fool.

there are a lot of "Random volunteers" helping out here. Also, here

You're being sarcastic about it but this is a matter of quality in quantity, and you're for the lower quantity. :v: You can get forum support for pirated and non-pirated games.

Hey look we can play this game all night if you want. Those are singular examples of dubious quality. Do you want me to link you to the EA chat help room? But hey, you're ignorant. Because all those people are obvious slackers with no day jobs, who don't actually give a rat's ass because they're not getting anything for their effort. Therefore I'd rather take EA support any day!!
That was something like your line of reasoning, wasn't it?
By the way, Garry used to be majorly active in Help & Support. Which constitutes an official service.
But hey, you're ignorant. Because all those people are obvious slackers with no day jobs, who don't actually give a rat's ass because they're not getting anything for their effort. Therefore I'd rather take EA support any day!!
helping people on the internet because you want to be friendly and hold out a hand for someone is because you're someone who doesn't give a shit and you have no job, and you're a slacker. If it's your job to do exactly that though, your fine, because its your job, not your hobby. :downs:
you heard it here folks, I think my work here is done.
I can't even argue with you any more, seriously, you have literally not an ounce of sight of what you are typing.
Have you ever helped anyone over the internet with an issue before at all? I do it personally because I enjoy helping people with issues. I enjoy talking these issues over in a calm discussion, because I just do.

You literally couldn't miss my point any more than you are, can you. I've tried to argue a point and all you've been is a smart ass, you don't' even have an argument other then that.
I'm trying to say that you don't need "Official support" because you can EASILY call out to people and get the same amount of help, if not much better.

By citing a bunch of completely irrelevant, non-applicable to the general population reasons. I did the same to shoot down your idea that volunteers > officials.
normally I'm quite aggro when it comes to "Bitching just for the sake of it" but I'm being very naive think it's smart to argue with someone that actually tried to point someones spelling mistakes in support of their own argument.

I asked it as an aside, and took it to PMs anyway because you're incapable of separating an argument from an honest question. You can keep telling me how I'm naive, and think I'm smart. Would you like me to do that for you, too? You're naive for thinking your argument is a-okay when you use it, but not when anybody cites it against you. I didn't come here to ad-hom, but if you want to throw them around like candy...

I never said you were naive, I implied that you couldn't look at the facts and that your argument itself is stupid, albeit in an aggressive way I admit. Piracy isn't that bad of an issue.
You're the one that's doing that, and you're the one that's being a smart ass. Not me. Valve and Notch work directly with piracy, so I think they know way more than you do.
A pirated copy is not worth more than an actual copy. A legal copy has certain benefits. These benefits are not outweighed by certain free and unreliable alternatives which are not nearly so picture-perfect as you paint.
A pirated copy is not worth more than an actual copy. A legal copy has certain benefits. These benefits are not outweighed by certain free and unreliable alternatives which are not nearly so picture-perfect as you paint.
The people pirating games and not buying them are doing it because they view the pirated copy as more worthy of their time. That is why their pirating them.
Just because you "Think that" the benefits outweight it, doesn't mean they do. that is why they are pirating. Your opinion doesn't change the fact that they pirated the game / or movie because they viewed the pirated copy as more worthy. The only reason people do it is because they don't feel the purchased one is worth it or can't buy it pirate. Sometime, to demo it simply, THEN buy it.

Except that you keep going OH MY GOD YOU ARE SUCH A RETARD HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THINGS when I cite an example of the average consumer.
Also neither Notch nor Valve are particularly good companies to cite against piracy, both experience widespread pirating of their own titles. CS1.6 and TF2, more recently CSS, are plagued with them. Minecraft, well... I don't even need to go into that.

Literal worth and perceived worth are ENTIRELY different
You said the former.
all this talk about whether piracy is ok or not is beside the point i feel! obviously getting something without paying for it is NOT a good thing. the issue here is random ass anti-piracy groups trying to scare people into paying them off and then the police having an incredibly aggressive and heavy-handed approach to dealing with this. like i said, they're public servants! why are they acting like enforcers for copyright holders!!
they experience piracy and yet say that
gee I wonder why lol
do you even know what either of them said really
and I'm not trying to justify piracy, I'm trying to explain the mentality of a pirate. If you can't understand something this simple, then that is you you will feel like Im' talking down to you.
that plus, why can't people pirate if it's a no sale no matter what? what is that harming? this is very different from bike theft.

Because traditionally it is the government's role to protect its people and interest.
Who goes after shoplifters? Who goes after thieves of all kinds? Vandals? Those who do damage?
Ding ding ding, the government! The government enforces the law. Why does the law exist? To protect the rights of citizens.
Copyright holders have a right to profit off their held copyrights. They have the ability to instigate civil litigation for damages, but infringes falls under criminal offenses. That is why public servants are acting as enforcers for copyright law.

it's not the act it's HOW they're acting. i have no issue with laws being enforced (well, there are quite a few laws i disagree with so i got issue with those ones) but i do have an issue for something so inconsequential being treated with such aggressiveness.

Is ALL you can do assume I'm a retard? I cited exact examples of why piracy happens earlier in this thread.
If you are just going to continue going "OMG WHY DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND THIS SIMPLE THING", then I have no interest in even trying to talk to you. Because that ignorant accusation is the exact thing you are accusing me of.

How is it possible to protect the law by smashing down a persons door, demanding their computers, and then leaving? They're being aggressive over the fact that someone told them they committed piracy.

I was saying that piracy doesn't harm anyone, so what the are you even saying "Shoplifters" for at all
you didn't even watch EITHER of the videos too.

A raid is a raid, they go in, take shit, and leave. That's a 'raid'
Besides this, they still could have easily combated their "piracy" ways in a much more, less aggressive way, then taking computers. They can simply disable their internet.
