Excuse me, but isn't this pretty much the characteristic look of galaxies with massive black holes at their center? 'Cept this has only one arm, heh.
So it's probably the Combine.
Great. More spirals.
This reminds me of a certain Manga, oh god the spirals :gonk:
Hurry, send a satellite towards it for sampling!
Wormhole!
Or collectors.. Or geth, even.
That's NOT THE GETH!
That's some crazy shit. Science has to figure out what it is.
This is fucking awesome
The particles are believed to be travelling outwards at nearly 50,000km/h.
reminds me of something about a pulsar i saw
hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
I don't like these articles because we will never like get there and see what's going on
Yesterday I just read the Uzumaki manga (thanks to the Disturbing comics thread) and now this happens :psyduck:

Looks like we are going to have to add "missile test" to the Weather balloon and swamp gas list...
Where is the photo that goes with that?
Right here:

That looks so awesome. It's widely accepted that it is gas being thrown off by a dying star in a binary system.
It's dark because the dying star is fusing heavier elements in it's core and outer shells as it's running out of hydrogen and helium. The gas thrown off from the outer layers will be mainly carbon, forming itself into long molecules and creating an opaque medium. The spiral pattern it's being thrown off in is all to do with it's orbit around the companion star.
And wait a few hundred billion years.
The satellite could have a device to process the sample on board. After it finishes with that, it sends a signal back to base as to what elements it is made of.
Not that long.
This sounds to me a LOT like those spirals from earlier this year.

That's exactly what happened to me.
I'm scared.

Also, it looks as to be a dying star, or other gaseous ejection.
See guys god is real look at the perfect architecture and 360 degree structure of the spiral this proves Jesus, mmkay?
Astronomers think the spiral formed because of the binary nature of LL Pegasi. The star is actually part of a double-star system and is losing material to its nearby stellar companion, which appears to have an orbital period of 800 years – the same amount of time it takes to create each of the spiral's shells, they said.
[editline]07:34AM[/editline]
Also didn't we see a very similar spiral close to earth a while ago?
no that was a failed missiles test http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn18262-strange-norway-spiral-was-an-outofcontrol-missile.html that tried to hypnotize norway
Reminds me of the stargate wormhole
pleasebeanalienpleasebeanalien!!!!
That's pretty cool.
I like how the quality of the picture makes it look better.
Looks like someone drew it or something like that.

It looks so similar.
