Less ports and a shift towards wireless solutions definitely gets my vote, but for now I see cables still being convenient. Plugging your phone into your television for video output feels like the early '00s, such as plugging in a video camera to replay.
Wireless technology is never going to replace cables. It's inconsistent, prone to interference, slow, emits radiation and can't power a device. So peripherals like external mice will be at the mercy of batteries. That reminds me, wouldn't inductive charging be better for this device as it means you can use "the port" for something else while charging.
umm do people seriously believe that this is gonna be 10 000$ lmao
It is? http://store.apple.com/us/buy-watch/apple-watch-edition
People who want their wallets as thin as their laptops
I needed an adapter to let me take out cards and put in money at the same time
Wait, so if you are charging the MacBook you can't put in a usb stick without unplugging the charger? :v:

It's also faster than using cords in most cases if the SNR isnt too bad.
I can't see this laptop being useful for anyone. Students wanting to take notes or browse the web would be better-suited by something cheaper, and people who need a laptop for work will want to be able to connect to USB drives, projectors, etc without buying stupidly overpriced adapters. Who's the target consumer for this thing?
with the proliferation of wireless data everywhere i don't see why people will still need usb sticks - i haven't used one in over a year. if you spend £1000+ on an ultraportable (it's £908 with student discount) chances are $20 for a DVI adapter isn't going to be the end of the world. in other news, it's an open standard, so don't know how it's going to be a stupidly overpriced adapter

lmao, people are complaining how non-pro Macs are facebook machines This 1.4GHz Air can emulate certain gamecube games at 60fps And this thing gets hotter when it plays Minecraft. I'm not defending the MBA for gaming, I'm just saying it can do it.

I use my computer for work, and that consists of intensive 3D modeling and design, but since I have a workstation with multiple monitors in my studio, and my job doesn't involve having to do intensive tasks while I'm out and about, I only need a laptop to do basic things, process photos and web browse. It'd be a waste of my money to buy another MBP since regardless of the specs it'd be inferior in all ways to the workstation PC, and less efficient to use. But in all reality I won't replace my laptop any time soon. If your only option for a computer is a laptop and you want to do intensive stuff I would get a pro though.
What?
What do you mean "what?". You quoted someone who talked about SSDs being small with an image of the new macbook, but it doesn't change anything. All you showed was the layout of it. They obviously fit one in there before, and his whole statement was about apple charging so much for the fitting of a different one; saying how the size was irrelevant. Your picture is just kind of pointless.
look at that tiny little mobo oh my god it's so cute
I never understood why they had to make the laptop THINNER, THINNER, THINNER! SMALLER! MORE THIN! Are they trying to compensate for not marketing hologram tech yet? Also, Is that the only appeal of the new "Macbooks"
