Just by this post I can tell you're not from the US. Dickwaving is kinda their thing.
Actually I am from the U.S And I can tell you're a tad bigoted immediately assuming that I LOVE waving my dick around.
lawl, this shit would never fly in the US. I hear spanish from the janitors all the time, even the spanish teachers talk to the janitors in spanish sometimes. Problem, Norway?
I'm not saying this is ok, just informing you that the US doesn't have a national language and Norway does.
From my personal experiences it seems like there's more xenophobia in Europe than in my own country America. Maybe it's because Europe isn't composed of mostly immigrants like we are.
It's because since there's not so many immigrants that conservative people can foster their closet minded beliefs for a good time before being called out on it. While in the US you'd need to get the bigot mindset in with the mother-milk.
What is Norway's and Sweden's problem with other languages, seriously? There were handful of people fired from their jobs in Sweden when they spoke finnish with each other.
What is Norway's and Sweden's problem with other languages, seriously? People want SOMEBODY to blame and vent on due to shitty times. They should REALLY try and find the ACTUAL cause and vent on that.
They have as much right to live there as you do.
I don't live there, I wouldn't live there and I wouldn't want them living there.
I think it's discriminatory for someone to get fired from their job not for not knowing the language required, which is a reasonable request for an employer to make, but for simply speaking a different language to colleagues who understand it and would likely prefer to speak in said language. And on break nonetheless! It reeks of the same kind of bullshit where people in the US complain about people speaking spanish near them and want to make english the legally official language to make themselves feel better or some shit. It's unnecessary and xenophobic.
I would want my countries de facto language be made the legal one as well. Listening to other languages on the bus and such grates at the ears and is incredibly irritating. Additionaly, the way in which they think they can speak very loudly as well because no one can understand is bloody well rude. I don't want to hear chings and chongs in pitches I've never heard before while I head home after a long day.
I hear about a dozen different languages during my regular day here at College, and half of that is from the staff and professors. You're damn right this shit wouldn't fly here, the Unions would pile down on the administrative staff like ants to a cake.

In Sweden we speak SWEDISH, if you want to make pig noises do it in your own country!! Grrrrrr

You're quite an intolerant cunt
Holy shit why are people becoming abominations i don't know, whatever.
just look at the way gypsies and jews have been treated in our history.
They're still treated like sheite in most European nations. As a half Norwegian half American who's lived in both countries, multiculturalism works better in America and people have integrated better there. Much of the reason for that, however, is the fact that it's much more gradual in the US. In Norway, nearly all our immigrants came within an influx of immigration the last 30 years.
They're still treated like sheite in most European nations. So that is atleast slightly understandable.
It's not the first time I've heard of this. My mother who speaks native french and arabic is not allowed to speak those languages to her colleagues. By law, the official language in Norway is Norwegian, unlike in the US where there is no official language. It's allowed during unpaid hours such as in lunch breaks. The article says she got a month suspended, not fired. It says or highly suggests that she only did this during breaks, but there's a quote in the news article where she said: "Every time my boss heard some of us speak polish, she said "speak Norwegian!", especially if we did it during lunch breaks" If that's what she actually said and meant, it would mean that she did it outside of lunch breaks too, which is a valid reason for suspension by law. I personally find the law a little stupid under this type of work environment (washing stuff) where you are doing "robotic tasks" that easily make you chit chat.
Kurwa.
People told me this all the time when i killed someone in COD4, i thought it was a compliment until i googled it
Wait, weren't you the guy running around spewing dumb stuff in the Breivik threads before, being all pissy when you were told how dumb you really are? Yeah, you were.
I only was in one thread affair, so probably wasn't me. Either way do you really judge one person from their positions in simply one thread? Afaik those who are considered "horrible posters" repeatedly state dumb opinions in multiple threads. If you have anything against my actual position on this issue, feel free to add to the discussion.
Plus it's just stupid, it seems like the manager would've gotten pissed if she was talking to a relative on the phone in polish from the wording of the article. People should be able to speak whatever language they want on a job as long as it doesn't interfere or impede their communication with their colleagues and or customers, imo.
As far as I remember, mac338 disagreed with me in the other thread, but he's being quite civil in this one. I really hope that you could be so courteous as to extend the same respect. debate the issue not the about the poster. Thanks.
I don't want to hear chings and chongs in pitches I've never heard before while I head home after a long day.
You're a terrible person.
A fair lot of gypsies are utter dicks though. So that is atleast slightly understandable.
a far lot of non-gypsies are utter dicks too, maybe we should discriminate against everyone who's not a gypsy.
a far lot of non-gypsies are utter dicks too, maybe we should discriminate against everyone who's not a gypsy.
Yeah but it seems like every country in Europe has a problem with them being dickheads so at least the hate is fuelled by the majority of them shitting on the countries. I know you'll probably rate me dumb and call me a xenophobe but there has to be an element of truth if they cause trouble all over Europe. Also as said earlier she only got suspended. Don't really see a problem considering she was warned multiple times but ignored those warnings. Being forced to speak Norwegian on your lunch break is still pretty harsh though
From having worked with home service and at a retirement home, and many of the sick patients on hospitals being of old age, I can sort of see some legitimate reasons behind these actions. The biggest reason I'd think of, would be the people who suffer from dementia. People suffering from dementia can often get very suspicious from people they think are trying to hide something, this can lead to them becoming mistrusting, hostile, confused, or scared. We were for example instructed to always look our caretakers in the eyes when we spoke to them, because many people think you're dishonest, lying, or trying to hide something if you don't dare to look them in the eyes. Likewise, I was instructed to get a haircut since things like bangs or sunglasses can make them suspicious that you're trying to hide your identity. With this in mind, I can very well imagine that speaking a foreign language could also be highly suspicious especially to the demented but also to some normal people. They do after all have no idea what you're talking about, and if you're saying things you don't dare say in a language that the people around you understand. Still though, if she was sacked simply due to prejudice, if they had not told her why, or if they had not warned her properly, then I'd say that's a whole different matter.
there has to be an element of truth if they cause trouble all over Europe.
was there an element of truth when the hatred was pointed towards Jews for centuries?
was there an element of truth when the hatred was pointed towards Jews for centuries?
troll answer: well just look at Israel real answer: Jewish culture has a way of rubbing negatively on certain people. The same way gypsy culture does.
real answer: Jewish culture has a way of rubbing negatively on certain people. The same way gypsy culture does.
well hating jews based on that is like considered wrong and stuff i don't know why we should hold a double standard for gypsies i'm just saying a lot of them live in appalling conditions and get violently assaulted in eastern europe. then an eastern european posts on fp saying he wants to massacre gypsies and everyone agrees if you think massacring a group of people is good then you're a bad person sorry
if you think massacring a group of people is good then you're a bad person sorry
I don't see Trotskygrad saying, or even hinting anything like this on this thread. Stop pulling shit out of your ass and smearing it all over the place like the baby you are.
I don't see Trotskygrad saying, or even hinting anything like this on this thread.
uh maybe you should read the sentence before that where i say an eastern european dude posts on FP and says he wants to massacre gypsies
Stop pulling shit out of your ass and smearing it all over the place like the baby you are.
rude
uh maybe you should read the sentence before that where i say an eastern european dude posts on FP and says he wants to massacre gypsies
Oh, my bad then. [sp]I need to quit the habit of browsing internets this late[/sp]
