http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Nifty_Package
What a great name for a military operation.
Interesting read to say the least. One man's treasure is another pirate's demise[;
If you are going to mention it you really need to post the video.
the problem is that you don't want the ship personnel fleeing the ship along with the pirates
I prefer to let people dig it up so they only have themselves to blame
I STOPPED TWO SECONDS IN. I KNOW WHAT WAS TO COME. THE HORROR
I've just got this image of the lyrics of "Hit me baby one more time" being played aboard a sinking Navy ship and someone calling out to the pirates "No please, just don't".
Let's hope Somali pirates don't discover noise-cancelling headphones.
Noise canceling headphones can counter one continuous tone (such has a car going a certain speed, or an airplanes engine).
Noise canceling headphones can counter one continuous tone (such has a car going a certain speed, or an airplanes engine).
So we combine jpop, western pop, death metal and whatever we can dig out of the Norwegian forests to create the ultimate in anti piracy songs? [editline]30th October 2013[/editline] Seems like Varg is the only man for the job, since Seth Putnam died...
Actually I'd say no. I mean it's combat after all. Think of a duel between two swordsmen, the duel is a respectful test of will, strength and general ability. Then one of the swordsman shows up with his dick flopping out of his armor. THAT would taint the duel a little.
What happens when one of the swordsmen shows up with a vastly superior sword, and with a bunch of swordman friends? honor and respect in war died long ago

Welp according to gCaptain, it's actually a joke that they are "afraid of western music" and that it's really just the fact that the music is being played through an LRAD that makes it effective.
So, as is the case with the security team reportedly warding off Somali pirates by use of Britney Spears music: I don’t doubt it. But I believe that the reason for the pirates retreat was more likely due to the pain suffered from the LRAD noise, rather than the pirates’ hatred for American pop culture.
http://gcaptain.com/britney-spears-music-ward-off-somali-pirates/
