Valve have been talking about biofeedback for millenia now, I'll eat an entire carpet store if the hardware announcement hint at the end of the page won't be about it at all.
If not, here are some options: https://maps.google.no/maps?q=Carpet+Stores+in+Germany&espv=210&es_sm=93&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&sa=N&tab=wl You are free to choose the one nearest you.
so its just a pre-built computer?
Yeah. This probably puts it miles ahead of pre-built computers from traditional vendors in terms of performance per dollar (no more 16 GB of RAM coupled with an entry level GPU).
I honestly hope not. If Valve is going to be competing with anything, I really don't want it to be with things like the Oculus Rift.
Competition is a good thing dood. It keeps prices low and makes features important.
I don't think we just hate consoles for no reason. Either way this doesn't really count since it's upgradable.
It's an open platform with a very inclusive distribution system, unlimited third-party support and without artificial hardware or software limitations put in place by overly apprehensive manufacturers. Regardless of what label we put on it, most of the reasons we hate "consoles" are void in this case.
Steam machines revolutionalized the industry, now they're doing the same for consoles. [editline]25th September 2013[/editline]

3nd announcement = supernova.
nice one
Sucks that i can't be eligible for the beta, running XP and thus not being able to fill this requirement :suicide:
Sucks that i can't be eligible for the beta, running XP and thus not being able to fill this requirement :suicide:
It's 2013, why are you still using winXP?
Sucks that i can't be eligible for the beta, running XP and thus not being able to fill this requirement :suicide:
Why the hell are you still running XP?
3nd announcement = supernova.
"After 8.5 million years in development, hopefully it will have been worth the wait"
Can I hack this box? Run another OS? Change the hardware? Install my own software? Use it to build a robot? Sure.
Nice and easy. They seem so relaxed sometimes, and that's one of the reasons I like them. Well, except that they sorta tend to have delays, but that's probably unrelated to the relaxed part anyway.
To anyone who doesn't have a controller (Like me): - Install vJoy. - Setup some basic keys (Left, right, button 1/2 etc.) and enable it. - Load up Steam Big Picture - Go to settings and check vJoy is working - Launch a controller game using your mapped buttons (Fez didn't work for me, CS:GO did though). - Load a game and play a little bit (Just move around or something). You should then get the award.
you're not going to be a good beta tester for it if you don't have a controller
My hopes are high
This is great for the ouya.

It's dumb if you simulate a controller just as an attempt and wouldn't surprise me if Valve logged those who were illegitimately obtaining it.
Sucks that i can't be eligible for the beta, running XP and thus not being able to fill this requirement :suicide:
Well, they are only picking 300 people so your odds are slim to begin with.
I've just attempted to use a controller for HL2DM. Someone please for the love of god KILL ME!!
i use my xbox 360 usb controller all the time for games except intense first person shooters but gamepads are really good for relaxed gameplay and i can see them catching on with more people. as for the steambox? it just streams from your pc to your tv so you will have to get a better pc if you have a toaster \=
Competition is a good thing dood. It keeps prices low and makes features important.
Yes, but in such a niche field? I wish Valve would put their resources in something else. It can run some games on its own.
Yes, but in such a niche field? I wish Valve would put their resources in something else.
They wouldn't be putting their resources there if they didn't think it was worthwhile. Newell has been saying for a while now that linux is the future for gaming; they wouldn't have developed their own OS specific for steam based gaming if they thought otherwise. Same goes for the pseudo-VR testing
don't see how this could beat the majesty of the ouya tbh, I mean who needs HL3 when you have
Didn't they try to Steam Greenlight supra mayro kratt or a variation there of?
As long as there are no SteamOS exclusives, I'm fine.
