I'd gladly buy one of these if the price is right. My laptop is aging and playing newer games on it is painful.
I wonder will it detect a flight stick as a controller?
To anyone who doesn't have a controller (Like me):
- Install vJoy.
- Setup some basic keys (Left, right, button 1/2 etc.) and enable it.
- Load up Steam Big Picture
- Go to settings and check vJoy is working
- Launch a controller game using your mapped buttons (Fez didn't work for me, CS:GO did though).
- Load a game and play a little bit (Just move around or something).
You should then get the award.
edit: just borrowed a friend's controller, done
I have some Xbox 360 controllers sitting around with a cable that can connect them with wire to the xbox itself (They also for wireless but the battery runs low really fast) , can I just throw them in my PC somewhere or do I have to buy weird stuff to let them connect?
you're not going to be a good beta tester for it if you don't have a controller
Kinda defeats the whole point of it, valve should really remove anyone that acquired it using a vJoy virtual joystick to be honest.
I honestly hope not. If Valve is going to be competing with anything, I really don't want it to be with things like the Oculus Rift.
why? competition is always good
Can I hack this box? Run another OS? Change the hardware? Install my own software? Use it to build a robot?
Sure.
Hehehe
So, the last announcement is the controller?
A controller with biometric input.
A console is something that only runs code from a first-party that isn't you. If the end-user can install their own software it's a PC.
What about this then?

Yes.
Yes.
What? Is the early PS3 not a console then?
Though it has been removed now and had hardware limitations so It's in a gray area.
Okay, thanks, I just remembered it and wanted to know what you would classify it as then.
