Reminds me of the story of a school in Arizona that told a father that he couldn't drop off/pick up his kid while in uniform. What a joke.
I'd totally be the asshole to do it with a body cam running, then let the school board dig themselves a lawsuit on my behalf. Shit, you'd probably get a significant amount of help from your police union too. [editline]18th January 2017[/editline]
I like that the police chief basically gave them two big middle fingers held high at their request. Walmart is going to get destroyed. If there's only party that has more money to throw at lawyers than big corporation, it's the government.
Not to mention that police unions are some of the strongest in the western world. Not only stupidly well funded, but also well versed in the finder minutia of shoving boots and other uncomfortably large objects up the asshole of anyone dumb enough to attempt to harass an officer.
it makes me sad that a police officer has to work a 2nd job
it makes me sad that a police officer has to work a 2nd job
They dont HAVE to.
They dont HAVE to.
No, but cops in many US states have a reputation for being paid and trained poorly. Imagine actually needing to work at freaking Wal-Mart to supplement your income.

They come back from war and after awhile join their local police force. They love it because they don't have to spend as much money training them because the army did that already. They just have no real idea how to deal with the actual public and the power gets to their head so quickly they do stupid shit. They need to incorporate training on how to deal with the public properly and how to restrain themselves from taking action if none is needed.
... Are you supposing that patrons of Wal-Mart are sexually predatory towards law enforcement officers? I am all for shitting on the Waltons as much as the next socially conscious keyboard warrior, but the solution here is for him not to go to Wal-Mart while he is on-duty. He shouldn't be a police officer if he can't understand basic rules. I know it is backwards, but there is nothing compelling him to go to Wal-Mart as a LEO. He is clearly in the wrong here, even though ethically it doesn't make a lot of sense to fire him. Maybe the judge can set a precedent, and Cops can bring guns wherever they please for any reason they want, is that preferred?
In your quote, it literally says that Zuby is required by law to carry a firearm when hes on duty. That supersedes any walmart policy. Also, there are a lot of reasons for a cop to be called to walmart, one of them being that he has to book a shoplifter. You have literally no comprehension of how police forces work.

If you've spent the last 4-12 years being held to strict standards of performance and personal bearing, you're not going to be impressed with the average civilian. Civilians are whiny, rude and self-centered, they slouch, they cut in line, they walk freaking slow, and worst of all, they can't show up on time. Regular cops aren't necessarily much better from that perspective, either. A few people have been suggesting that maybe there should be a demilitarization process when you get out, a sort of reverse basic training where you shake off all the Hooah/Motto bullshit, and they teach you that, no, blood does not make the grass grow, and no, it doesn't matter if all of the vehicles in the parking lot are dress-right-dress. That would make sense though, so of course the DoD isn't going to touch it with a ten foot pole.
