If you read more than the OP summary you'll see I'm directly quoting the quotes the article's basing its summary on. I'm just saying it isn't clear if by take-down he means block access to or a DCMA style take down system for content held on Australian websites.
For what it's worth, I'm completely against everything they're suggesting including the warning procedure and whatever else they are suggesting. Completely 100% against it.

This is politics. It does not refute the suggestion that there is support to be found for this policy, just because earlier their stance was different.

I'd Take Kevin Rudd over Abbott any day. In all honesty he wasn't as bad as he was made out to be.

The filter was originally put forward under the Liberals, but it died for a bunch of reasons (Like the speed hit), then Labor brought it back and the Liberals suddenly opposed the idea.
Then we had the issue where right before they election they "accidentally" released a proposal for having a filter, no idea how they accidentally wrote and published it.
-blah-

My point still stands that they have gone back on their word from election time. Politicians are liars, everyone knows this.
Well, assuming this is actually a filter, we don't know yet
-Ok, lets not go there.-
A bit off topic but every time we have a thread about Australian politics/happening people not familiar with 'strayan terminology get confused over the simplest thing. The Liberal = more conservative then Labor thing is understandable but I remember a topic being derailed over the term 'bikie'.
Anyways, Abbott is a shitbag, water is wet. I'm so glad the first election I was able to vote in brought us such wonderful things like this.

That was about saving the children from porn, the filter they revoked just before the election that is. This one "is not internet censorship, it never will be censorship, the Liberal Party of Australia will never, ever censor the internet. This is about preventing a crime against our local media, about preventing thieves from taking from our hard working film and television producers. This is about jobs and the economy, it is not censorship." - Gerbe1's press conference as new member of the liberal party, gets elected first term when Tony says "he knows his stuff!"

See above (it's pretentious I just wanted to have fun though!) But seriously, they just have to give a spiel like that and they make it out like there is no censorship at all. They can get it past if they want.

This ^^ by the way is exactly what they should have done with the carbon tax. "It is not a tax, it never will be a tax, I promised before the election there would not be a tax and I will keep that promise. This is an emissions trading scheme. This is about jobs and the economy etc. etc."
Would have saved them a lot of pain.

Hopefully, society will see right through it and (rightfully) flip their shit like they do most times someone tries to fuck with our internet (usually successfully).
Julia Gillard began allowing people to call it a tax in an effort to get everybody to stop arguing over semantics (it's really not a tax though, but thanks to the Coalition - who also know it's not a tax but enjoy creating shit since it works so well - nobody will bother listening or accepting it's not different). I'll try and dig up the interview where she conceded it was a stupid move to make. The damn quote too - "There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead, but lets be absolutely clear. I am determined to price carbon". Conveniently cut after the comma though. Then the semantic discussion where people won't differentiate between tax and carbon price = everyone flipping their shit over 'lies' and a win for the Coalition who can literally just chuck tax into every anti-carbon pricing sentence and it's taken as a directive from god herself to get angry.
Eh it won't happen. There's no way it would become law.
I do find it pretty funny though that the party that labels itself as for 'small government' has MPs that would consider this piece of legislation which would lean towards a nanny state.

I didn't feel like my vote was wasted, a Labor MP was elected in my constituency. (Then again my constituency has been a safe Labor seat for nearly a hundred years lol)
Honestly cannot handle him for 3 more years, he has done more damage to this country then anyone ever. He needs to go asap.
