Christ, and I thought Cyberlink PowerDVD was annoying OEM bloat. This is why I always format and reinstall Windows on laptops when I buy them. You never know what crap they're gonna load them up with.
Please direct me to the part where it said that Samsung was "actively looking at EVERYTHING people were typing into their computer"
Keyloggers are used as administrative, parental, and personal safety/surveillance tools, not just to steal Runescape accounts
Keyloggers are a very poor and invasive method of tracking and troubleshooting any PC. Regardless of your stance in the IT industry, may you be OEM or End User Support; You do NOT put keyloggers on ANYBODIES PC to aid in, troubleshooting and administrative ability. You're essentially spying on the end user wrongly and illegally. Obtaining user names, passwords, what you're typing in that confidential email about.
Its a poor method to practice to use a keylogger to help you find out what the user might be doing to their laptop. There is always cookie and internet history spying if anything.
"Wow, let's put keyloggers in our laptops, nobody will ever realise it!" :downs:
I don't see any way this could be legal unless they slipped something into the TOS even then its debatable.
Oh and required viewing for any Samsung related topic: http://www.yhchang.com/SAMSUNG_MEANS_TO_COME.html
What the hell did I just waste ten minutes of my life watching?

I couldn't watch it as I felt it was specifically designed to hurt my eyes. Seriously, I believe that animation has induced otherwise dormant epilepsy in me.
Update: Samsung have since investigated this complaint, and discovered that this is simply a false positive from the security software. The C:\Windows\SL directory is created to hold Slovenian language files, and its presence on the disk is all that is required to trigger the false alert.
Samsung's about to be raped in the ass with a spike covered diamond dildo.
I'd sell it then buy a house.
well that's the last time I buy from Samsung.
urgh read the fucking thread
Slovenian directory in windows is sl-SI though
Unless languages use different directories (windows ultimate or the like) and the full thing is for localized versions
The sad truth is that the government knows about keylogging software and sometimes hardware installed on many computers. I was at a government office building and saw that they check all the drivers and kernel instructions of every new piece of computer related equipment that comes into the building to make sure it's free of any foreign logging features. The thing is, there is sometimes even dedicated hardware that is completely undetectable at the OS level in some computers for the sole purpose of capturing user input information. All that data is then sent back home through more dedicated hardware that is invisible and undetectable on the OS level.
:derp:
Only one way to be "safe", don't buy pre-fabricated computers or laptops... Build it yourself.
[sp] Kinda only possible with desktops... [/sp]
Even then they could have a starlogger chip on the motherboard or some shit :geno:
