Well, think of how light travels as on a highway.
This device is used, slows light down like putting a toll booth in the road.
It'll speed up again, once it's passed the field, but the light still behind it would still need to get through the slow moving toll booth.
So, if my rambling is right, you would probably still see it in slomo anyway.

You've not heard of what i've seen... It's been a couple years back on earth, But around thirty in sector 4 territory. It seems like yesterday it happened, We went under cloaking with the space time maneuvers they taught us in flight school before we landed and fought that battle.. There were a few casualties on our side but we massacred the original population.. That's when something i can't explain happen. There were at first a few squads that went missing, Then entire units, We tried to call for help but the shroud blocked out all our comm arrays. It was about then we knew something was wrong. I walked back to my ship we used to land, And it was devoid of all life, All the pilots just up and disappeared, It was something i couldn't explain, Neither could my squad leader and captain. We started finding things, our pilot's badges or just empty uniforms. Then we came across a site of bodies lain up into what could be called a shrine. There were a few... things guarding it, and as far as we could see they we're unlike anything we'd ever seen before.. I don't know about the other guys but i got off that rock as fast as i could after seeing those monsters.
