Move to sweden instead. American net is having a lot of censorship and throttling problems too
I've heard internet connections in Japan are ridiculously cheap, though they got a whole other type of surfing going on right now
My mum refuses to switch from rogers for some reason.
I'm stuck with a 60GB bandwith limit and less than 1mb/s speed
[editline]29th March 2011[/editline]
and I live in fucking ONTARIO

what part of ontario, but ya, the bandwidth cap is the same for everyone I think, cogeco here and we have the same cap, just a faster connection

It's true. But hence why I didn't recommend japan, they're having some other problems.
I'm on Rogers, in Ontario my Bandwidth Limit is 120gb, I get 3MB/s feels fine to me.
Yayyyyy
Rogers said this morning I'm over 100% on my 80 gig cap and already $5 over! At least there's only two days left til' the end of the month...

I don't mind the speed, the speed is fine (well, upload can always be better). The prices however, are ridiculous. $60 a month for an 80 gig cap, half-assed speeds, then $2 for what ever I go over. And the next package is the one at $70 a month for like 125 gig a month and same shitty speeds, I can barely afford our current package, and 125 gigs is still probably not going to be enough. (I'm in a household of 5, which are all using the internet regularly)
I have games on my Steam I've bought a while ago, and I can't fucking play them because if I download them I'll use up like 20% of my monthy limit per game.
Also, just for irony, Roger's website is always extremely slow and chock full of bugs.
That's probably what it is, honestly. I'd fancy a guess that some huge patch went out, and suddenly customers realized that their download speeds were shit and they weren't downloading patches at their already capped speeds.
My friend who lives in Canada says Rogers absolutely blows, and quite honestly, it sounds like it.
Yes, I'm his friend who lives in Canada and Rogers is the most disgusting company ever to grace this country. They have data caps that are terrible plus they throttle users (my cap is 60GB) but for $100 you can get a download cap of 120GB so of course that's a good deal (not). If there actually was competition here and the Government took their thumbs out of their asses things would be much better. Openmedia.ca is our only hope and this has been going on for years!

Nice job paying $100 a month. I really hope you know your getting ripped off.

I backup my games onto external hard-drives in case I ever want to play them again. Rogers also has a TV ad running making fun of WoW.

Its the best we have.

Go to these two sites they are better then Rogers by 100^10 (as nicatronTg would say)!
http://www.acanac.ca/cable.html
http://teksavvy.com/en/res-internet.asp (make sure to go to the "cable" tab at the top)
Those are the best. The only reason people use Rogers is because they are big bullies that contract you to hell and then ask for more money when you go over their dumb data cap when they have enough bandwidth to provide almost unlimited!
If you try one of those you won't be sorry.
Currently I am waiting for my damn 3 year contract to expire and it does in 2012 so I can't wait!

I was just thinking this morning of switching to TekSavvy.
300 gig limit? 3x the download and same upload? (don't care about speed really) $25 bucks cheaper? Available where I live?!
Fuuuuuck yeah
Oh Canada, why so backwards?
Yet you're the kind of person who gets all pissed off when someone says "all of America is dumb"
I'm using Rogers Phone, HD/DVR Digital Cable and Internet.
Back when we first moved here we were using SD Digital Cable and couldn't get Rogers Phone, we had to use Bell Phone which was more expensive.
Funny thing is, when we switched to Rogers Phone from Bell and from Rogers SD to HD Cable with DVR we actually saved money.
Heck we're saving money now because we are using all three by Rogers, we get a discount I think.

Nope, I've got the Rogers whole pack thing and we still have dumbass prices.
My town just "got" Rogers. By "got" I mean we got a Rogers building.
I always see people mulling around in there and stuff. I have no idea what they're doing though, since despite having that building for about two weeks now there is no Rogers service available.
It's some kind of front for the mafia I know it

Both our countries are didn't you get the memo? Geez, no one reads their "demand progress" e-mails.
(http://demandprogress.org/) check it.

I can second these two. Both of them are excellent providers (though I have more experience with Acanac than Teksavvy).
A whole lot of complains at the Rogers forum.

Ya and most of the the mods just close every thread people make. It's funny as hell watching every single thread just disappear or get locked every second.

Perhaps we should go help concerned customers get their voices heard.

OMG, we're getting ripped off?!
Holy crap, this is news to us! QUICK, LET'S MAKE A THREAD ABOUT IT- oh wait.
Threatened to cancel rogers internet subscription. Instead, they bumped us up to Extreme Plus for a price match with TekSavvy.
Basically;
Was:
- Rogers Extreme Internet
- 80gb Cap
- 15Mb/s Down
- $59/Month
Now:
- Rogers Extreme Plus Internet
- 125gb Cap
- 25Mb/s Down
- $49/Month
An actual not half bad deal.

TekSavvy gives you a static IP address if I remember right. That would cost approx $30/month from Rogers.
I don't need one.
holy shit you guys are paying way high prices for network speeds that would cost about $20-30 in my country
