I think it's more a fear of going from post-Soviet states to re-Soviet states in light of what's happening in Ukraine.

We have several of our own. We have 11 big ass floating air force bases that belong to the Navy, each one has a force larger than 70% of the world's air forces. This excludes the actual Air Force, Army, and LHD carriers

Because NATO consists of more countries than just the United States.

Europe can't expect the US to just put their whole military in their continent in an event of a Russian war. Even if the US was fully for it, it's logistically impossible, let alone strategically unsound.

It's good that other NATO members are pulling their weight in the alliance than mainly consisting of the US with some European support.
