• Dutch architects apologize for 9/11 blast look-alike design

This is Dutch design and will be built in Korea. The Koreans get all the cool buildings.
Add me to the list of people wondering "Why should anyone in any other part of the world spend any of their time thinking about whether something might look like a past event in US history?". We have a professional football team called the Redskins! Who are we to judge other people as less sensitive to others?
I think it looks pretty interesting. That's absolutely awesome, I love the outdoor parks, the greenery adds so much in comparison to the chalk-white outside of the building.
Why should the Dutch continue to sidestep your terrorist attack more than a decade after it happened, America? [editline]12th December 2011[/editline] This is also an architectural masterpiece.
As much as this doesn't offend me, it still annoys the crap out of me that people will still point at the whole nation, rather than the government, or the whining few who actually find things like this offensive.
I'm from and live in ny and ehhh who cares
Intentional slurs against 9/11 I understand. But this, this looks nothing like it and they had no intention of making it look like it. Some people are just stupid and attention seeking.
"Lots of people die every day, go cry about that instead" Done.
Then they cry every living moment instead of whenever 9/11 is mentioned.
People really need to stop seeing the negatives in stuff. It's like they want to feel "hurt" about trivial shit. This is just another building, it just happens to look like this, it's not a personal attack over something that happened a decade ago, move on.
I'm not being a dick or anything but when looking purely at numbers 2000 compared to the estimated 20,000 civvies killed in the first year of the war it all seems so silly. Yes it was a horrific attack and yes it was an attack on American soil but does it really justify a war on an emotion? Or more specifically a war on an organisation whose head spent the last few months of his life worrying about finances?
Either you weren't there or have never seen the things that happened. The gruesome things that they didn't show you on TV and the stories they don't publish in books. Have some compassion for the victims, America won't be over it until our generation is dead and even than it'll still be history.
Holy shit it was- let's check a fucking clock ten goddamn years ago It's time to get the fuck over it It's a third of the fucking world away too, why should the Dutch have to care about the feelings of idiots in America?
This is the problem with things like this. Now the notorious "Hitler Tash" will never really be an acceptable mustache type. Shame, I really like it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metonymy
That's just what I thought when he made the reference, but not everyone knows what the person saying it may be referring to. Unless they've experienced similar use of the word, phrase, and so on. Like when someone tells you "They're doing so and so again," and you won't know what they're referring to unless you know what "so and so" is.
We need to deal some sort of criminal punishment for baseless "OMG 9/11" calls.
Reminds me of Habitat 67 in Montreal: assuming Habitat 67 was hijacked and flown into the world trade center
I'm loving these designs, maybe I should do something like this for my Architecture Checkpoint.
what an intriguing read
So that's what people do in their free time.
I like it. It was called Digital Cloud or something wasn't it? I'd love to have a pool that sat in the cloud portion of it. As for the 9/11 thing, if there can be artistic cultural representations of nuclear explosions I don't see why this is called tasteless.
USA hasn't been hit by a nuclear explosion yet, so it's still okay :v:
It looks like two buildings with a giant fucking tumor in the middle.
What exactly was he going for?
Well atleast It's good looking

It looks like two buildings, each with an explosion in the middle linking the two together. I'm not a butthurt conservative but I'll call it like it is. It looks like two building exploding, very similar to 9/11. Try and tell a survivor that it doesn't I dare you.
Not to be inconsiderate to the victims of 9/11 but this is a bit to much. The attacks happened more than 10 years ago and they need to move on and not cry whenever something like this happens. I'm not bashing the families in any way it's just a bit ridiculous now.

Show me a survivor and I'll tell them that right in their face.
I'm pretty sure if you were in such a traumatic and life altering event you'd be seeing that shit everywhere too. [editline]14th December 2011[/editline]
USA hasn't been hit by a nuclear explosion yet, so it's still okay :v:
Except the ones in the deserted bits by the government, anyway.
To be quite honest it does look similar to me, but I don't really are and people should stop getting their panties in a twist over this.
To be quite honest it does look similar to me, but I don't really are and people should stop getting their panties in a twist over this.
It looks similar only because you've been told what it might look like. You wouldn't have made that connection in a million years were you not told.
It looks similar only because you've been told what it might look like. You wouldn't have made that connection in a million years were you not told.
I did actually when I saw the picture in the newspaper. I didn't actually read the article until later. :v:
