There's always some scheduled maintenance to do out there, and even if there isn't spacewalks are routine by now and, though more dangerous than being inside the ISS, nothing to be worried about

This just makes me wounder how in the world would this work, seeing as how there is no oxygen in space to support fire.

It wasn't lit, lighting it would be incredibly dangerous near the ISS, even if they could use a separate oxygen source to feed it.
