Park Slope Kids Salon: Stop Calling Your Wifi "LuLu's Anal Bleaching"

Mine is: nsa van #7
Mine are boring, just names of characters from HHGTTG, my 2.4Ghz AP is called Fenchurch since it has the weakest signal and has a habit of disappearing :v:
Mine doesn't broadcast its SSID :~)
Unless you've turned WiFi off, then it does.
Given the recent uproar of literally ones of people about TopGear, I wished someone would have jokingly sent a complaint to the place about their RACIST term in their title.
I checked to see if anyone had an unsecured wifi in my apartment complex the day I moved in (internet wasn't set up yet):

There was one really loud black family above me (kids running around, banging on the floor, screaming at all hours of the night) that moved out a few weeks after I moved in. The landlord agent guy said that he's not legally allowed to say that they were evicted when I asked what happened, but in the same breath he said that he had to evict someone recently. He lives next door to me.

Most routers I've seen have the option to broadcast the SSID by your choosing:

I'm gonna name mine "FBI Surveillance van #2" not only because of one of the examples from this thread, but because it assumes there's the first FBI van who was a little smarter in renaming their wifi.
Pretty fly for a Wi-Fi
totally ought to rename mine to NSA Predator Drone #53
the people around would totally believe that drones have wifi hotspots
My router's name is "Ion Cannon Uplink D."
It's not terribly witty or creative, but it's a bit more original than agency surveillance names. :v:
mine's called "my lil' wifi cant be this secure"
Mines called "Go Away"
Nothing beats "The Promised LAN"
My wifi is "omg fuck OFF"
Mine is "Get out of here Stalker"
I feel like setting up a network called "Mark Zuck killed my WiFu"
My friend just reminded me that I set his SSID to "Abraham Linksys"

Sure, but that option doesn't do what it says it does (It's terribly named). No matter what the SSID is broadcast, all that option does is set a flag asking the client not to display it in the list of available networks. Certain apps (like netstumbler or a random Intel driver I ran into) will ignore the flag and show the network.
When the SSID is hidden and you join a client computer to it, you need to provide the SSID (So the system knows what network to join), but it's not going "Any networks in the area with this SSID", it's just selecting the network from the list of broadcasting networks (Also as a performance improvement, the AP announces itself, the system doesn't constantly search)
Edit: There's actually a guy around me that's using a hidden SSID + WEP to "secure" his network, but it shows up for me when I scan.
My neighbours have 2 connections.
One of them is, "The password for this network is poopstain", the other network is called, "You tried it didnt you hahahaha"
I'm not ashamed to say that I tried. It is not the password.
I used to have it set as "IRA Terror Cell #13" but changed it when I realised I lived in an area full of people who'd take the name seriously.

Wrong. The SSID is not broadcast by the AP in that case in the beacon frame, but your driver is just picking up chatter on that network, which includes the SSID. When someone connects to that network, it does say "hey, is there network XYZ here?" and the AP responds with "yes, but just the tip please".
If the AP had no active connections, it would not be able to see that network's SSID, since it's not broadcasting it, but it would still receive beacon frames to identify the existence of a network (you cannot turn off beacon frames without turning off the wireless entirely).
Hiding your SSID is still basically worthless, as is using WEP.
Have several repeater nodes:
NW_SKYNET_01 - 04
NW_SKYNET_GEO_OPS (5.85GHZ)
NW_SKYNET_RADIANT_IVORY (5GHZ)
I wonder if there are any FBI Surveillance Vans actually using "FBI Surveillance Van".
No one would suspect a thing!

Please crack it, I really wanna know what the real one is now.
I renamed mine 'Virus Attack Stress Test Server - Central' and noticed a 100% reduction in access attempts (probably using some exploit) from some apparently very wifi hungry neighbors.
Mine's:
P134S3-347-4-P3NI5
Pretty easy to translate.
I once encountered a wifi called "Bill Wi the Science Fi"
Mine is: "The Batcave", but I wanna change it.

my lappy's wifi was being a bitch so it connected to 3 different networks lol
i have like 8 networks in my house
I have "Ion Cannon Uplink#9". Good Old C&C...
My apartment's is Dickslammer420.
Subtle we are not.
Set WiFire to the Rain
