picked up both Clive Barker's Undying and I have no mouth and must scream for less than 5$
look the reason i'm saying this is because i have been with steam for the last decade and for me i find that steam is very easy to purchase games on. i have had trouble with gog because it rejected my debit card and on top of that sometimes i feel like it's still in terms off how long a service it will last for. also the steam summer sale is coming up a well so I will have to think about that.
And the reason you're dumb is because GOG is a better service with NO DRM, MEANING that if they go UNDER AT ALL, your games will still always play. Also they refund you for broken games and have actual good customer support.
if it's drm free why would it have a cd key
Because there's such a thing as "optional." Wouldn't hurt to supply Steam keys while also just giving you the option to play it completely DRM-free as they usually do.
Consortium here I come
sometimes i feel like it's still in terms off how long a service it will last for.
What? If GOG goes down your games remain unaffected because you get the game files as they are and nothing else. If Steam on the other hand goes down you'd better cross your fingers that they'll manage to send out a patch that enable games to work stand-alone.
Before I start, know that I don't intend something bad and just want to get some information about GOG.com! So I did make this thread and have about 5 games on GOG.com. What I always have is that I don't normally buy games of GOG.com because I like to have all my games in one place like Steam. A client with all my games that I can simply download. Internet isn't a issue here in the Netherlands. Why would I go ahead and buy games on GOG.com instead waiting for the Summer Sale at Steam? Hopefully some of you can be nice enough and give some opinions and information  I always see it as a fragmentation of my game library.
if it's drm free why would it have a cd key
Nearly online multiplayer game needs a cd key though.

Just buy the games where you can get them the cheapest under the best conditions. If it seems like a game isn't available (often the case with older games) or won't be as cheap on Steam, just buy it on GOG or wherever else you can find it. It's not like it's gonna matter much after you've installed it anyway. You can always add it to your Steam library if it matters to you.

I see what you guys mean. My only reason I used GOG 5 times was for some classic games that Steam doesn't even sell to this day.
I see what you guys mean. As far as I know, they are guaranteed to run fine on modern systems, while you may run into issues with the Steam ones. For instance, I remember hearing a lot of bad things about the Steam release of Riven on Windows 7 and 8, while Gog's release works perfectly.

Thanks for giving some information! What games do you guys recommend over at GOG? I like some good storytelling and just the ability to play the game at 1080p.
Because there's such a thing as "optional." GOG has their own OPTIONAL client now too, for library organization, which is cool.
Is it actually a deal-breaker for some people that games do not include Steam keys? Holy shit. Pass up great deals all you like, you're not guaranteed to find them again in the Steam summer sale. Incredibly ironic that the PC is praised as such an open platform, but people choose to restrict themselves to a shit client with harsh DRM. If it bothers you that much, add a shortcut in Steam.
Between Steam and GOG/etc sales, how is the market not completely saturated? I haven't bought a game on a sale in ages because I've already got every game I'm even vaguely interested in. There's no reason to spend more money, especially when the release rate for interesting PC games is so glacially slow.
I bought the roller coaster tycoon pack, now I can relive my childhood

I've had the second two Journeyman Project games for years and I had an urge to finally beat them a little while back but they wouldn't run off the CD at all finally (had sound problems back on Vista too). It was pretty nice to find that for a couple bucks I could get them GOG and they ran great. It's something I never would have expected to be able to do a few years back. Once a game was unplayable who'd expect there to be a hope of new support for a dead game?
Oh my fuck, Broken Age is on sale for $12.49. Instant buy.

There was a pool game released that didn't even have the exe.

I've had no internet on my pc for four months now and I've only been able to play a couple games I've installed. (fuck you "cannot connect to key server" error)
But Steam comes with Linux versions while GOG.com doesnt?
I'd prefer to have the games on Steam, but for these prices it doesn't really matter that much to me. So far I've bought Alpha Centauri and Space Colony HD. I'm tempted to get the Roller Coaster tycoon games, they definitely won't be that cheap in the Steam sale.
Can you gift games on GOG to to other people?
But Steam comes with Linux versions while GOG.com doesnt?
Most of the games GoG sells are PC-only because they're from back when Linux games weren't even a thing, but they do have a community-created list of games that work on Linux. Also if anyone wants to get acquainted with how GoG's system works, wants to see how to add their games to Steam, etc, they do have a few 100% free games. Beneath a Steel Sky is awesome.
