Oh and if 19/20 knew about Hitler I think it's safe to say they're teaching about him, the kids just don't pay attention or 1/20 schools suck ass.
Probably Slackers that heard that you would get recess once you'd finished the test.
The kids are just trolling obviously.
The same amount probably believe The Sun is a decent source of non-tabloid news, if this was real it'd be on the BBC especially with it getting close to remeberance day.
This.
Sadly their team's loss was so hard Hitler suicided.
Now I'll never get that Himmler bobblehead. :saddowns:
Thing is, its not taught in schools until we are about 15-16.
So if the parents haven't told them then why would they know?
I know you're prob not American, but I learned this shit when I was like 8 years old
Well this is bollocks. "The embarrassing findings are contained in a poll for the veterans' charity Erskine, which asked 2,000 kids aged nine to 11 about the two world wars."
So they only asked year 5 and year 6 kids. I was learning about egypt, ancient greece and ww1 when i was being taught in those years.
Also, 2000 kids is nothing. I'm pretty sure the primary school i used to go to has like 900 children attending now, or something near that anyway.
you learned about hitler in grade 9? what fucked up school do you go to?
I learned about it much earlier mostly due to my interest in WWII video games like Medal of Honor and that got me hooked on WWII literature at a young age. However in elementary school (at least in Canada) you learn mostly about the older history (1800's-1900's). Then when you hit high school in grade 9 you learn about more recent history (1900's).

Same.

At my school we were never taught anything about WW2 unless you selected a history subject in year 9/10. It's sort of assumed you already know, we spent more time learning about the first fleet.

What about it?

They're not the ones who did the survey. They're just reporting it.

My little 11 year old brother probably knows more about WWII than me, he's so fucking obsessed with CoD to the point where he wiki'd anything and everything to do with it (thus WWII) and he's probably watched every WWII movie out there.
No, he's a character made up for a Monty Python Sketch. Good lord, why are the kids so dumb?
We can assume that the children are either retards or at least 2.89% of them weren't taking the survey seriously. Despite many of the questions containing the words "Second world war" and "First world war", that's the percentage of children that answered that there has been only one world war.

At least they won't expect the Spanish Inquisition.

man that's a big school.
My Primary had about 80 or 90 people, and my High School 650ish.
What's the point teaching them about hitler and the nazis, all its gonna do is cause ignorance and hate for a country that has changed.
Hahaha, whoever came up with those multiple choice answers?

"What's the point in teaching history."
:downs:
There's a 7.5% bias towards the first answer in all the replies of this survey. Both "only one world war" and "hitler is a coach" replies are first answers.
Here in Sweden we don't learn about the second world war untill we're 15 years old. So next year for me, althouh I still do know some about the war, since it's one of my interests. Most of my class doesn't know much about history, and if you asked them what they knew, they'd probably just answer that they knew there has been two world wars and that Germany was in them both. I don't think children are ready to learn about the second world war at the age of 9-11.

History isn't all about the wars.

Did you learn about WWII in a swedish school?
History isn't all about the wars.
No but wars are history. The reason we learn about wars in history is becouse it's connected to alot of other subjects such as politics and technology. Wars have changed the world quite a bit.

Nobody expects it, lad.
