I thought all swedes were friendly and against the death penalty.... there goes my generalization.
No, swedes can have opinion of their own just like other people and they are not bound to a collective hive mind of opinions regulated by the government.
No doubt these guys will serve out a long prison sentence anyway, one appropriate to the crime that's not completely blown out of proportion by blind emotional rage-response.
haha, remember it's Italy we're talking about. Our justice system is so slow and bad it's not even in the top 100 worldwide, or so told us our costitutional law professor. They'll get less than they should, and be freed on parole after a little while. If there is space in prison. Otherwise they'll just get parole. 3 years from now, ofc.
Wow, some joke, ha ha so funny. Fucking cunts.
The more and more I read stuff like this, the more and more I become afraid to even go outside
They said it was a joke? Shit these guys must think a prank is running up to someone and stabbing them.
they are not bound to a collective hive mind of opinions
Facepunch on the other hand....
I swear I've seen this story before.

It was not them who said it was a joke - it was their parents. EDIT: I'm way too lazy to look up the video again, but they also said that since they didn't use guns or knives, or another weapon, it can't be considered a crime.
I just like to think that by principle, since governments generally do make decisions for their people and judge them based on their wrongdoings etc., then how come the death sentence is suddenly off the table but your usual life in solitary containment is not? (Kinda hard to explain.)
If someone is found innocent after the initial conviction, it's easier to free someone in prison for life than it is to resurrect the dead. The idea is to leave ways of undoing mistakes open wherever possible, because there will always be mistakes made. A life sentence still has the effect of nullifying the threat they may pose.

Not to give the perp "payback", but separate people who are a danger to society. If they cant be rehabilitated, then they don't get to leave prison. Then if it turns out the guy was innocent, he can be free to leave, but he can't if the system's executed him.
Even animals commit suicide in bad conditions. It's a thing for elephants to commit suicide when in captivity. And lions too if I remember right. Your will to live can be easily overridden when you get life in prison.
No it isn't and no you wouldn't. Unless you're a severely damaged human being who has lost all regard for his own life, which you along with most criminals are not, you're just trying to talk big to support your silly opinion. You have that same innate instinctual desire to live and continue to exist the same as the rest of us living creatures do. Death is not easy. It's inevitable, but not easy, and the idea that it is easy is a massive heap of romanticistic bullshit.
Don't impose your repressed fears on others, I'd much rather prefer death over life in prison, I don't fear death, I fear suffering.
Thank fuck Facepunch isn't on a justice committee. Lots of horrid death sentences. Also what assholes.
this is so italian
Whose who in that picture? Is anyone in that picture the parent or the people that did the crime?
Well yeah. You're human just like the rest of us, and you have an instinctual drive to survive just like the rest of us and pretty much every other living thing on earth. You can talk as brave and as big as you want; fact is, humans are mentally and physically built to resist death and fear it. So fucking what if one person out of a million is the highly unusual and disturbing exception and would rather die than live. They're an insignificant minority, an exception, and that's how simple it is.
This post brought to you by the International Institute of 13-Year-Old Psychologists.
Naples is fucked up. I read at least one news story a day about someone being stupidly bullied, assaulted or murdered. It's disgraceful.
