Actually he could have meant a whole lot of things since "remove Islam" is a very broad statement. Removing Islam also means removing a huge part of Persian culture. That would be damn near similar to "removing Buddhism" from India, and I say similar and not exact-like because Islam did not originate in Persia. And as for the question of how modernized Iran is: overall it's a pretty modern country for the region it's in. Its laws, however, are not so much modern, as we've seen. Oh that, and it's lead by very unmodern people.

Looks like the movie just became reality, hope she gets out of there as soon as possible. I'm sure Hollywood would love to have her, especially as someone who's faced this shit first hand.

I was remarking on how much better a country it would be if it stuck to it's original Zoroastrian beliefs, the PERSIAN RELIGION, instead of Islam, and got rid of the current BAD government. And no, Islam is not a 'big part of Iranian culture OR history', it's the bullshit that the regime uses to control the populace, that was forced into the population by the Arabs hundreds of years ago. Islam has NOTHING to do with Persian culture. The indoctrinated groups of the populace fail to see that, and when paired with the government's control freak urges, it's a huge clusterfuck.
