I got the game when it came out even tough my pc couldn't run it properly. Maybe in the future I could play it properly
How nice. I get the "nothing shows up" bug when shadows are on Very High, but it seems to run fine when everything else is maxed.

They didn't, they're just now a seperate setting, "night shadows". I guess you just have them set to off.

Nope, I have them set to very high, still does nothing.
Hey be glad you can run the game at all. Rockstar basically just denied me the ability to play the game, since it runs so crap it's unplayable.

Heard you guys wanted mods, well. You can use simpletrainer in EFLC / downloaded DLC (gfwl) but you won't be able to play on servers hosted by people without the mods (yet, I bet aru will release a non-protected scripthook or someone will crack it). All you need to do is download dsound, the new scripthook from gtaforums and simpletrainer and you should be all set.
I can run the game pretty well now on acceptable settings (low/medium and a reasonably low resolution, the one just under 720) on 20-30FPS. Making the game enjoyable now. I wont see the full eye candy for a long time until I set my mind to get a new computer.
8800GTS 320mb, 3.2GHz AMD 6400+, 3GB RAM.

What about my car mods?
They should work, but only if you have elfc dlc from marketplace, seen as the EFLC retail / steam is encrypted or something.

believe it or not - it'd hardly make an impact.
the game depends more on the CPU, RAM, and VRAM. one comment i saw somewhere said that they went from SLI GTX295 896MBs to a single GTX285 with 2GB of VRAM, just purely off of a hunch, and the 285 outperformed.

Something like that, I have 2 280m gtx sli'd, 1 gig each, and the game just uses about 60%, little over 1 gig of dedicated.

This probably explains why I saw some dude's screenshot of TLAD with smoother looking shadows than the grainy ones present in previous builds of IV.

nocd cracks/patches help alot of people, I don't want my fucking cd to crack or get scratches so i can't ever reinstall again.

Pop ups happen more when your shadow settings are on "Very High". Keep shadows on low to high only. If you are getting lots of lag, try turning of night shadows.

This right here.
With high shadows, I max out at 55 FPS. With Very High, it warps to 20-30 and spasms in between, making it REALLY unplayable.
