Terraria actually got a big update like last month. I'm just surprised to see Undertale only appeared once.
Did it really? Wow. I remember that game dying the year it came out and nobody playing it for ages, then everyone moving to Starbound. Color me shocked that it came back.
- Best Use of a Farm Animal: Blood and Bacon, Goat Sim - I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award: Unturned Yeah ok, tons of good games indeed. /s
hey HEY blood and bacon is GREAT the best game on Steam, even.

Are the votes not public or something? Can we not see how many people voted for a category or for a game? Do we have to wait for this to be over to see them? Because that sounds pretty fucking stupid. [editline]20th December 2016[/editline]
The categories weren't fully picked by steam users, they were given to "Senior Members" of the committee - whoever they were - and they chose the final categories to have in the awards. Depending on how much control Valve had over them, it's totally likely that any of the joke/protest categories would have just been dumped. I mean I didn't expect any of them to make it past that stage but it still feels like opinions of the community got discarded there.
That sounds retarded. The top 10 categories chosen by votes from the community should have made it not a decision of a stupid committe especially when no voting info is released so we don't know anything.
All 3 of those are fucking shovelware greenlight garbage. These awards have no standards, it's all memes.
??? Unturned is free?
glad darkest dungeon got a little bit of love
why is TF2 the oldest game in the "test of time" award? what the fuck? why is terraria in two categories? people still play terraria???
Does AoE not count? It originally released in 1999. Granted I don't know the exact changes the HD release brought.

Looks like Not Important didn't need that hug after all. I dunno, some of these awards are missing a few important contenders.
no, because if they were public, then "most needing of a sequel" would have easily won the custom category box and then valve would have to talk about the 'forbidden subject'.
Or it could be that people voting on Reddit and communities bigger than FP overshadowed the votes in a custom category for a single game.
or alternatively they curated the shit awards out and left in the ones that made some resemblance of sense
Or it could be that people voting on Reddit and communities bigger than FP overshadowed the votes in a custom category for a single game.
you realize we weren't the people that came up with the custom category brigade for hl2e2? we got it from reddit, in which all of the biggest gaming subs (/r/gaming, /r/pcmasterace, etc) were participating, the two mentioned having posts on the topic that managed to reach /r/all. that is, in addition to /v/ also rallying behind it. it definitely won. let's not kid ourselves here.

[editline]20th December 2016[/editline] Also you're underestimating just how many people use steam. Again, millions vs. a few thousand.
let's face it there not going to make half life when they can make skin crap
let's face it there not going to make half life when they can make skin crap
Ignore that star, that doesnt relay my opinion on this.
The nominee list looks like a tween face book list
You should never have too high expectations when it comes to community awards nominations I was half expecting "The “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award” Award" category to be filled with AAA games
I really don't understand why people give a shit about awards ceremonies. The Grammys, the Golden Globe Awards, the Emmys, so on. They seem absolutely pointless. Even if you hate them, why do we care about Valve's shitty awards now? We already have TGA.
As long as MGSV wins the "woaaaaaaah" award it'll be fine with me.

It got about 10,000 upvoted. Compare that to 1 million active steam users and it's nothing. It's way more likely the huge player base of games like unturned and shit voted on their favorite games and those won. Completely ignored my second point too. Everyone only nominated one game in the category. Every single other one has at least 5 most voted games, why would they do a category for a single game? I can't believe people are calling Valve a shit company for going with votes in non-custom categories either. Like do you expect them to disqualify a game with the most votes because you personally think it's shit?
Remember how the first few days of the Summer 2014 event went down? Reddit was successful in organising which team would win each day, and then (if I remember correctly) Valve stepped in adding 2nd and 3rd prizes to try and prevent future pushes from being organised.
Sure but the circumstances are pretty different, and that was almost 3 years ago.

i'm glad fallout 4 go the “Just 5 More Minutes” award. that game seriously fucked my sleep schedule.
You're also relying on everyones vocal support actually translating into everyones actual participation. [editline]20th December 2016[/editline] Also you're underestimating just how many people use steam. Again, millions vs. a few thousand.
Sure, millions of people use steam; but I very much doubt that even 1/10th of everyone who uses steam participated in voting for awards for these games. I'd say that to even give a crap about these steam awards you kinda have to be "in" on the scene, which involves being in some kind of community gathered around Steam. Reddit and /v/ do have an enormous sway.
I'm upset at this whole thing because it lasted too short and I didn't even see it in time so I didn't get my fancy badge  :v:
The cards are already out pal Honest to god, without daily deals Steam sales have lost their excitement
I mean, unless you care about an awards ceremony with debatable voter participation, all you need to do is look on day one and there's no reason to ever come back and check again.
Im kind of actually mad Ultimate Chicken horse didnt get nominated for best use of a farm animal but goat simulator did
"the game that is just as good today as the day you first played it" "-Team Fortress 2" HA
I don't see why that's not true. Unless you let cosmetics get in the way of gameplay or something. But then again if there were cosmetics you'd be playing in a public server and not lobby.

But then again if there were cosmetics you'd be playing in a public server and not lobby.
Well actually the gameplays getting in the way of the gameplay. Its like somehow gotten both worse and boring at the same time I can't describe it
^If you can't describe it then why did you post at all? What does it mean that gameplay is in the way of gameplay?
The difference is that this was a nominational voting system, even if millions voted it would've been spreaded votes instead of focused ones like we, reddit and /v/ did
it was curated which means they, with 99% confidence, merged common ones. [editline]26th December 2016[/editline] and dropped shit ones that had no merit, for example "game with worst cliffhanger"
