So, I average 200 hours a month on GMod. Hope my terrible local ISP doesn't switch to this, then I'll have something to love them for.
Your steam profile says you only got 380 hours in total, so you just got gmod 2 months ago? [editline]30th April 2011[/editline] Also, this whole bandwidth cap shit is a huge step backwards and is the reason why companies never should be big. That way they can fuck with their customers around, and there are next to none alternatives.
gotta love it when profit shits all over product quality
This is why companies should not be so large.
No, more why the U.S. needs to have a serious look at how we regulate ISPs. We still have regional ISP monopolies- which means there's no way for consumers to speak with their wallets and choose not to use one over another, because there is no alternative option. Size wouldn't mean shit if there was more competition involved.
My connection is so slow I don't even use over 150GB a month (141GB last month) even though it's uncapped. :frown:

Here in the UK, most internet providers already have usage caps. It's incredibly annoying, I have to restrict myself from streaming videos and downloading stuff or O2 ends up getting all pissy and threatens to cut me off.
Looks like I have to using my neighbours wifi again (goddamn it)
I am glad we just got connected to fiber with a new provider. I am supposed to get 50/50 but i often get 45/70. I don't mind it very much. Neither do they apparently.
The only connections that do have a cap here in Finland are wireless connections, and I can actually understand that. The spectrum can get rather full if you've got a lot of people using the service, and it's not cheap or easy to license a frequency, make sure your equipment works on it etc. and even then client devices would be hit-and-miss. Unless it's something custom that your company is making. Then again, I have unlimited HSPA+ for 13,90€ a month, includes phone's service, 3G modem's service and the free 3G modem and the free multi-SIM I got.
Fuck, I hate having AT&T. Not only does their "service" suck in my area, now they're going to tell me I can only download 150gb a month? I wish FIOS was available in my area.
With any luck, alternative companies that don't have bullshit caps (like Cox communications) will seize the moment and expand into competitor territory. [editline]30th April 2011[/editline] Also, this isn't about fixing squat, it's about screwing over the consumer so they don't have to be innovative.
I know they tried to limit, but Time Warner came through in the end!
I love my ISP, I'm gonna write them a letter of thanks tonight after reading this. No joke.
How I love living in a small country and about 50km from the biggest internet exchange in Europe. We have about 10 ISPs to choose from, and none of would ever dare bringing bandwidth caps into play :v: Sucks for you guys though.
I don't even understand how caps exist anymore. We pay 30$ a month for 100/100 fiber with no cap.
I've downloaded 2TB in the past 2 months, I'm glad i'm not on a limit.
Wow. That sucks...
Where's my quantum internet already
[img_thumb]http://www.speedtest.net/result/1275895478.png[/img_thumb] And I'm still faster the 52% of the PH. :v:
We're almost the same :respek:
Random ATT person came door to door in our neighborhood yesterday trying to sell his Uverse nonsense. My parents are actually considering on getting this shit. Under half the speed and now they're capping it to 250GB?
Good thing my 1.5 Mbps connection pretty much prevents me from reaching any kind of cap.
No, NO, NOOOOOOO!!! This will not stand, go to hell AT&T, you have a monopoly where i live, the only service worth fucking buying just stopped being worth buying.
Write to your representatives, let them know how you feel about regional ISP monopolies.
We use Windstream. We're safe, for now anyways.
The internet sucks dick in the uk too. Virgin have the fastest connection but are expensive. Stupidly expensive.
charter may be unreliable but atleast they'd never pull this Cap shit. Too many redneck customers to piss off.
time to hack my neighbours wifi
So, I'm not that good at calculating this stuff. So if I am downloading a 12gb game, that uses 12 gb of my monthly limit of 250gb. So I only have 238gb left to use that month?
Good thing I don't have AT&T
