Read about this on the Escapist.
Funny thing is, I'm not depressed, and I'm not overweight, even though I look a little big in the stomach, my actual weight is about eight stone which is average/slightly under average, I've been told, for someone of my age.

It's not 45% of gamers are fat and miserable. It's 45% of fat and miserable people happen to play games.

Like I said, that's like saying 38% of gay people like the color blue.
It doesn't make you gay if you like blue.

I am very depressed and miserable. But I'm not fat.
Most of the people who aren't fat now will be when they're 35
Most of the people who aren't fat now will be when they're 35
This is the truth
People refering to themselves as gamers are idiots anyway. Like it's a profession or something.

I encourage the use of the term, if only because it makes it easier to know which people to avoid
Wait, 35? What the fuck?
I think they're saying that most people past that age who are fat and depressed are most likely a gamer.
All that really says is that it's an easy thing to turn to to have fun.
Gail Nichols has suffered from depression for years. When the 49-year-old resident of St. Marys, Kan., cannot sleep, she falls back on a form of entertainment that is gaining increasing credibility as a medical intervention: video games.
Nichols said she discovered the mental health benefits of video games some years ago during a particularly bad spell of depression. She had just started playing a game called Bejeweled, which requires players to move gems into rows based on their color. When she could not get to sleep one night and was tormented by mental pain, she said, she turned on the computer and played the game for hours.
Um no? The report says 45% of the interviewed people are gamers, and that out of these gamers, a certain ungiven percentage are fat and miserable, and that this ungiven percentage is high enough to convince them that gamers are more likely to be fat and miserable.
However, they are not saying "gamers are fat and miserable", just that they are more likely to be fat and miserable. You could say "people who play sports are more likely to be fit" and still have people who are fat and play sports (slow metabolisms maybe?).
I'm fat as fuck, about 500 lbs, and also gay

You're either fat or a creep if you feel the need to say this. Pick one.

Maybe you should copy this reply to the 30 plus people who have also said this in this thread as well, asshole.

I started working construction 8 hours a day, stopped playing games, and now I am putting on a bit a belly flab, unlike before when I sat on my ass all day. This study lies ;D

Oh gotcha. I don't know why they wouldn't give that percentage. Thats kind of what the article is about.
Whats the point of throwing out that 45% of 500 people are gamers when the article is about gamers are more likely to be fat and depressed?
