Something tells me he won't do much like the previous pope. I believe that Church needs an open-minded leader who would make some positive changes because its current state is not very optimistic.

Why the pope hate, he may not be like the last one we had.
Wait so it's permissible to stop disease but I'm assuming not to prevent children? If so how does that work?
Pope Francis! Francis is an incredibly powerful name, one of the most venerated saints is St. Francis.
What about the name Jesus? Imagine a pope called that, Pope Jesus.
First thing I thought was "I'm from Buenos Aires, and I say kill 'em all!" :v: I also found out he believes that adoption by gay parents is discriminatory to children. So yeah, not too impressed yet...
One of the very, very few times I feel proud for my people. As someone said before, he is somewhat conservative, so don't expect a radical change of the church just because he's from South America. [sub]you're a cool guy, george :D please, please dont fuck this up for the rest of us[/sub] Also I was witness of his first miracle on the train station, where everybody was angry for the train delays and the news of the new pope cheered them all up. It was nice to see them lots of people all happy at once.
At least the new pope doesn't look like emperor palpatine this time
Shame it's not a black pope I wanted a black pope. [editline]13th March 2013[/editline] also
Well, another reason to love my country, or not. But still awesome tough
Good, Latin America deserved to have the Papacy. They've got a huuuge number of Catholics and are underrepresented in most ways worldwide.
It'd be one hell of a historical moment if he'd fall down the balcony
When those suits were tossing that flag over the balcony I thought it was a body at first.
What about the name Jesus? Imagine a pope called that, Pope Jesus.
He would be of mexican origin.
