I actually don't know what you're saying. He's not saying, "You're native American and it's dumb." In fact, he's not making any negative statement about anything Native American It's only racial because the nature of her initial claim is racial. If she would have claimed to be ancestors of great baseball players, then Trump might have called her "Babe Ruth." Trump didn't make it racial. The claim by Warren is inherently racial.
So Trump can't insult her without using her race because she claimed it is one thing at a certain point in time, thus giving him freedom to use her claimed race as a weapon of degredation? I don't have any understanding of how those pieces fit together and make the picture they do for you.

Native Americans have stated they interpret it as a racial slur - particularly in the usage that Trump is using it; in other words it's a racist slur. Do you still deny that it is a racist slur? Or are you just going to say 'it can't be racist because she's not Native American' like a fool who is utterly lost? Please proceed, governor.
While sgman is entertaining, does this really need a thread if this is just Trump repeating his behavior from the campaign trail?
You make mental gymnastics a high art
I think FP has enough people involved in the same sport to put together a team for the next olympics. We just need to take Sealand and make it Facepunchia so that we can qualify as a nationstate.
While sgman is entertaining, does this really need a thread if this is just Trump repeating his behavior from the campaign trail?
new shit action = news to know also stop giving sg attention, if he didn't understand what was wrong on the first page he's intentionally not listening to what yall have to say
To be honest, whether she is or is not Native American is irrelevant. The INTENT of the joke is that she isn't actually Native American. Hell, let's say he's totally wrong and she ends up being Native American... the intent of the joke doesn't change. It just means the joke was based on something false. The statement is either racist or it isn't, whether she is or is not Native American. The key is that Trump doesn't think she is, and the comment is based on that assumption. With all that said, the assumption is based on the fact that she can't prove her heritage. She can't provide the burden of proof for her initial claim. So people are justified in dismissing it.
As someone who's been called out for not being a "real Mexican" and even called out for white privilege as a Mexican, I think you really need to assess whether or not the intent in itself is a problem. also he kind of already countered all of his own points with this post
I fundamentally disagree. Racism has a definition, and it isn't based on the people listening. A racist statement is racist, even if no one hears it, and vice versa, a non-racist statement isn't racist no matter who hears it.
If someone still claims Trump is not a racist bigot, you are a Trump apologist by my standards.
So Trump can't insult her without using her race because she claimed it is one thing at a certain point in time, thus giving him freedom to use her claimed race as a weapon of degredation? I don't have any understanding of how those pieces fit together and make the picture they do for you.
I don't even get your point. Trump insults her all the time by calling her "goofy." (Which is so ironic that it's hard to even take at face value, but there it is).
When I think of the name Cletus, I think of our big bearded janitor from elementary school. After lunch, we would all line up with our trays, and he would dump the contents into the trash. Sometimes, he gave us candy. Other times, he had to recover shoes that dumbass kids kicked onto the roof while playing soccer. Also, he was white. In fact, everyone at that school was white, except maybe 10 people.
According to people I've been [del]arguing[/del]talking to, calling her Pocahontas is supposed to be a compliment because Pocahontas was a heroic figure. :suicide:
According to people I've been [del]arguing[/del]talking to, calling her Pocahontas is supposed to be a compliment because Pocahontas was a heroic figure. :suicide:
Are they talking about the movie or John Smith's story? Because from Smith's perspective God was the hero, she was just a tool.
new shit action = news to know
Iunno, this is akin to "KKK call black people niggers" to me. Same shit but on another day.
... What? First, we're talking about mocking a person who ISN'T part of the race in question. So it would be like going up to a white person, who claimed to be African American, and saying "Hey, look, it's Rosa Parks" in order to mock the white person. [editline]3rd November 2017[/editline] Can you clarify its history as a racial slurs? Where was it used as such?
Does the name "Uncle Tom" mean anything to you?
Got any backing for that? The most popular Cletus character in TV is white. That makes me think that the general consensus is it's not a "black" name. In fact, I've only ever heard "Cletus" in reference to white folk.
More specifically, red-necks/hillbillies. ie Cletus T. Judd or Cletus, the Slack-Jawed Yokel.
Sgman, you made the claim that she was lying about her heritage, the burden of proof thus falls on you to prove that assertation.
To be totally fair, Warren was the one to claim she was of Native descent, so technically the burden of proof would be on her to prove it, but that's not the point of this discussion.
Show up and see all these new posts expecting an actual update to the story, some kind of rebuttal or apology. Nope. Declaration of Native American month by Cunt Hole in Chief, and four pages of sgman91 arguing semantics. Again. This is getting ridiculous.
While sgman is entertaining, does this really need a thread if this is just Trump repeating his behavior from the campaign trail?
The president of the United States calling people names like 10 year old is news worthy just so there's a record of what a utter disgrace this administration is.
one is a kids cartoon and the other is a president
This is a pretty dumb place to draw the line. Like I don't disagree that calling her Pocahontas is disrespectful but this has nothing to do with the character's status. Also Pocahontas was a real person btw
Also Pocahontas was a real person btw
We don't know that Trump knows that.
