The most heroic of people don't really care about "odds of survival." If there is even a CHANCE that their actions can save another life, its worth the risk. Especially when it concerns family members and loved ones.
but there wasn't even a chance, it was too hot for a fully trained fireman in full gear to go in.
Would you run into a blazing inferno to save your son?
The police did their the right thing. If they let him go run into his death then they would've gotten ridiculed by the media saying they let the father burn to death and didn't stop him.
Would you run into a blazing inferno to save your son?
You can't save a dead person.
You can't save a dead person.
Nobody would rationalize like this in that situation.
A friend of mine, her apartment was on fire from christmas tree lights, setting her tree on fire. Everyone got out except her daughter. Roland, her brother, went back in to get her, but was overcome with smoke. He died. The smoke is a deadly, not only a pure fire kills.
No one wants to be a hero. No one. You have some arrogance if you think you want to be hero.
Or you just care about something more than yourself.
As a parent you don't think of the consequences of your actions when your own son or daughter is on the line, he didn't know it was "too late" at the time because in that situation you don't think like that.
State Fire Marshal Investigator Scott Stoneberger said that a firefighter in full gear attempted to enter the home but the flames were too hot. Firefighters discovered Riley near the doorway to the bedroom from the front living room.
IMO they probably saved his life
lol police tasering people trying to save their family how awesome of them.
lol police tasering people trying to save their family how awesome of them.
lol police saving someone's life how terrible of them
lol police tasering people trying to save their family how awesome of them.
There is no good choice in this situation, it was going to be a shit sandwich regardless of whatever choice law enforcement made. At least with keeping him from going into the fire, which would of killed him for sure, will allow the Father to stick around to raise whats left of his family.
lol police saving someone's life how terrible of them
yea they really saved his life by tasering him.
yea they really saved his life by tasering him.
yeah...they did.
People would have blamed the police either way. If they let him enter and he died they would have been blaming the police as to why they didn't stop him from basically committing suicide. And if they prevent him from entering then you get the blaming that is going on right now.
yeah...they did.
they might have prevented his death but they didn't "save his life"
they might have prevented his death but they didn't "save his life"
now you're just arguing semantics
now you're just arguing semantics
no i'm arguing the morality of preventing a person from trying to save a member of his or her family.
That could have been dangerous for them. Honestly, I think the police maybe should have let the man go in, perhaps he should have the choice.
I don't think you should be given that choice when under extreme emotional duress.
It seems like the father knows what the word sacrifice means and would gladly risk his life to save his 3 year old son. Note to cops: If a father is willing to risk his life to save his son from a house fire, just fucking let him. If a cop ever tazed me while I was trying to save my only child from burning to death, no joke, I'd probably be a Psychotic, brutal cop killer from there on out.
oh look another shitty yawmwen post in a thread about policemen. did you not read the article at all or what? the flames were so hot that fully geared firemen weren't able to go in you dunce. [editline]5th November 2013[/editline]
It seems like the father knows what the word sacrifice means and would gladly risk his life to save his 3 year old son. But hey, LETS JUST FUCKIN' TAZE HIM and let his son burn the fuck up in his own house. Note to cops: If a father is willing to risk his life to save his son from a house fire, just fucking let him. This cop probably just created a psychotic cop killer.
likewise to you, did you not read the full article?
did you not read the article at all or what? the flames were so hot that fully geared firemen weren't able to go in you dunce.
yea after the police went around tasing people and sticking their thumbs in their ass for god knows how long waiting for fire services to arrive.
yea after the police went around tasing people and sticking their thumbs in their ass for god knows how long waiting for fire services to arrive.
wow imagine the fact that the 911 call was placed at 12:58 am and the firemen arrived at 1:03 am, a whole fucking 5 minutes.
yea after the police went around tasing people and sticking their thumbs in their ass for god knows how long waiting for fire services to arrive.
uuuuhhhhh are you okay
wow imagine the fact that the 911 call was placed at 12:58 am and the firemen arrived at 1:03 am, a whole fucking 5 minutes.
oh ok you're right. he still should have been allowed to go in though.
Note to cops: If a father is willing to risk his life to save his son from a house fire, just fucking let him.
Good work, I am sure the cops are taking notes from the teenager on the internet. [editline]5th November 2013[/editline]
oh ok you're right. he still should have been allowed to go in though.
it's pretty much impossible to be thinking rationally in a situation like that at that moment do you really think he was considering the ramifications of going in there, that if he died he'd be leaving another child fatherless? do you think he had a full grasp of the chances of survival of his son and himself if he were to go in?
I don't think you should be given that choice when under extreme emotional duress.
I don't think ANYBODY has any fucking influence on weather I go in my own house to save a family member or not.. Like no joke...I would go fucking Jason Voorhees on that entire Police Department if I was the father..
oh ok you're right. he still should have been allowed to go in though.
Yeah let him go into a building a fully geared fireman could not go into. Smart.
Yeah let him go into a building a fully geared fireman could not go into. Smart.
Not your body, not your choice, guy.
Yeah let him go into a building a fully geared fireman could not go into. Smart.
no one has the moral authority to tell you that you cannot risk or throw away your life trying to save your children.
