I had a feeling it was Texas as soon as I saw the title.
Three times now.
How was this guy not fired so hard he might as well have been shot out of a cannon the first time it happened?

systemic corruption and incompetence in law enforcement.
systemic corruption and incompetence in law enforcement.
Oh jeez, you're one of these types.
I would have never known with that avatar.
systemic corruption and incompetence in law enforcement.
Not incompetence, but definitely corruption.
He might be a higher-up, or he could be brown-nosing the chief.
But no matter what, guy doesn't deserve to be a cop if he's going to abuse power for his own will.

You should have known before you even entered the thread, his name is under the thread afterall.

Definitely a biased source, but it doesn't really discredit the story. It isn't good that this was allowed to happen.
That doesn't however mean you should spin it to sound like police in general are evil or incompetent, which I feel like the OP may be trying to do.

Fuck tha police [sp]until someone's trying to break into my house and I gotta dial 911[/sp]

i don't got to spin it, i could just post more stories.
every police brutality thread would probably flood sh though and be considered spamming so i post the most outrageous things i see.
And yet he's on administrative leave with pay.
Wasn't there another cop getting life sentence for a legit honest to god mistake?
This makes me kind of sad.
And yet he's on administrative leave with pay.
This right here is the biggest problem. Law enforcement should not be allowed any second chances or breaks for shit like this. I'm fairly convinced the way they handle the situations when it comes to officers committing blatant crimes helps perpetuate the hatred and general distrust the police seem to get so much of. It should be a rule that if you're a cop and you fuck up to this degree, you are publicly stripped of your badge and barred from working in law enforcement at the very very least.

and you're a prison worker aren't you? i'm sure you're far less biased.

man it's annoying how the serious problems with law enforcement and justice systems in the west are so downplayed and ridiculed
systemic corruption and incompetence in law enforcement.
Now we see the violence inherent in the system.
I had a feeling it was Texas as soon as I saw the title.
Are you fucking kidding

I was expecting Detroit.
systemic corruption and incompetence in law enforcement.
uh no. the victims dropped the cases. misconduct by officers is taken seriously.
I had a feeling it was Texas as soon as I saw the title.
I don't know about all that, but I did immediately think it was in the US..
uh no. the victims dropped the cases. misconduct by officers is taken seriously.
yeah it sure it is what with the blue code of silence and all that
And yet he's on administrative leave with pay.
So he rapes a women, then gets a paid fucking vacation.
Fucking sickening.
Also title implied he raped a actual teenager, under 18. Still bad though.

Standard procedure during an investigation is you are on payed leave until the investigation is over, and then punishment doled out if necessary. If it is concluded that illegal activities didn't take place, it would be kind of stupid to not pay someone who didn't do anything illegal(unlikely in this case).

one of those "doesnt support rape" types
uh no. the victims dropped the cases. misconduct by officers is taken seriously.
a lot of the time this is due to intimidation, negligence, and/or coercion from law enforcement. let's say you were a victim of police brutality. you go to report it and you are assured the matter will be taken care of. then you learn that the person who hurt you is put on paid leave and isn't even arrested. then they come to your house and tell you that they will hurt you if you keep this case going.
it feels like these officers are not treated like they are subject to the law. a normal person would be arrested and held on bail in this sorta situation. why shouldn't the officer?

the person should be arrested and charged though. that's the way it works for everyone else. cops shouldn't be given a pass. in fact, cops should be put under a higher level of scrutiny because their job is to protect communities(in theory) and a cop committing a serious crime is not only hurting the victim, but lowering the whole community's trust in law enforcement, as well as harming their feeling of safety and security.

in the same way you can make a claim that a crime against a police officer is a crime against the community he is supposed to protect, you can make the claim that a crime perpetrated by a police officer is a crime against the entire community.
What is the evidence against this man besides her word against his? How do you know she is not making it up?
Was there a DNA test?
McManus said although the camera in the officer’s patrol car was not working, the GPS system was.
How convenient.
He said it showed Neal spent 18 minutes at the location where the woman claimed she was attacked.
In addition, McManus said another woman had made similar claims about Neal a few years ago but never followed through.
The officer also was disciplined recently for fraternizing with an 18 -year-old woman who was part of the Explorer program, McManus said.
If she was even able to get a DNA test, I doubt it would be finished so quickly. They'll have a court case later.
