Are you seriously that naive?
Say goodbye to media coverage of the Wall Street protests.
The links to the Iranian government are probably bullshit, or tenuous at best. But, hey, we invaded Iraq with entirely fabricated evidence.
We (the West) have been waiting to depose Iran's government since the Islamic Revolution...

Why? Because the Shah was a western puppet who was replaced by a bunch of religious, authoritarian zealots.

That's hardly an appropriate comparison.
That comic doesn't even have anything to do with Iran. Just Muslims in general an entirely different topic.
Because the 'evidence' that Iran was behind it is bogus. "He had an Iranian passport"

[release]Asked whether the plot was blessed by the top echelons of the Iranian government, Holder said the Justice Department was not making that accusation.[/release]
This is sensationalism media at its best digging for any excuse for a pretext on a war on Iran.
Did you read the first post?
The plot was "conceived" in Iran by the Quds force, part of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, he added.

The two men allegedly linked to the plot were named as Manssor Arbabsiar, a 56-year-old naturalised US citizen with dual Iranian and US passports, and Gholam Shakuri, based in Iran and said to be a member of Iran's Quds Force.
How is that bogus? If they can prove a link between Gholam Shakuri and the Revolutionary guard (Which, lets face it, has a history of being extremist) it would be perfectly fair to say that Iran was behind this. The Revolutionary Guard is part of their armed forces.

does this mean we get to invade iran now?

If he was member of some secretive Iranian agency, it would've been an entirely different story.
And regardless, the revolutionary guard is intended to protect the country's Islamic system and to prevent internal dissident and military uprisings. Not carry out foreign attacks. Hence the term revolutionary guard.

It's how the American media is painting the picture of reality for its citizens.
It was a bit of an obscure point: Iran has a ridiculous president that has done nothing but fuel Western media about HOW EVIL THE AXIS OF EVIL IS when he really is nothing but a symptom of a much larger problem.
In '77 the country was kept out of the public's eye, but now in this day and age it's a hot-topic that's following the same trend of another Iraq-Invasion-Scenario. All they needed was fear-mongering and mass-media spam to go ahead and destroy Iraq's infrastructure.
I bet this is cover to drown out other more important media, since this all suddenly seems like bullshit.
Yeah, rate me dumb, and when it comes back to bite you in the ass and you realize this is drowning out the Wall Street protests, don't come crying.
I wonder what would happen if they discover Iran really was behind this (rather, if anyone on Facepunch would believe the evidence.)
Many of you obviously read my post wrong. It wasn't meant to be serious.
Surely you people can't believe something that ridiculous would be a serious post.
I'm going to wait for more, but I'm seriously guessing this is some kind of cover.
Saudi Arabia recently negotiated a $60 billion arms deal with the U.S., and it has said it would bulk up its armed forces.
Jesus Christ.. (This deal was almost exactly a year ago)
I'm interested to see how this develops during the next few days, in regards with retraction of accusations.
To summarize, a U.S. citizen who held an Iranian passport approached what he thought was an associate of the Mexican drug cartel to ask for assistance for murdering the Saudi ambassador.
Turns out, he was an actual DEA agent and thus reported him.
So far, the only conclusive evidence that this was directed by Iran was because he was a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (which as I said has 220K members) and that he told the informant that his cousin "is in the Iranian army but doesn't need a uniform" Its pretty weak evidence for proving Iran was behind the attack and the accusation is likely a knee-jerk reaction by the USG/Media in another attempt to rile up an anti-Iranian sentiment for an impending war on Iran.

Something that seems to give this weight is that one of the co-conspirators was a member of the Quds Force, which is a branch of the Revolutionary Guard dedicated to actions exactly like this attempted assassination (however none of the articles confirmed he was a member or even involved directly in this.) Still, a lot of this just feels fishy (not the assassination attempt in general, but the supporter being Iran.) Hopefully this'll be proven as an isolated incident.
That being said, I don't really know what'll happen in the days to come if evidence comes up that supports Iran being behind this, or if people would believe the evidence given.
You know up until now everyone was expecting Holder to talk about that botched gun operation and then this happens.
There's not going to be a war or anything related btw

Well that's good, disaster averted so far.
Wow. A terror plot like this...
Gee, Eric Holder told us this is what happened. It must be true.
Even though this same Eric Holder also knew of, approved of, and probably ordered Fast and Furious, pretended to not have anything to do with it despite evidence that the White House itself had ordered it, then proceeded to tell everyone they were busy pursuing justice for whoever had done it while conveniently leaving out info most of the slack-jawed public needed to know (i.e. the fact he himself was involved in and guilty of it). The same fruit basket who basically enabled and assisted a classic "false flag" that nobody believes can happen in America, a blatant attempt to frame gun rights and legitimate gun owners.
Why do we take anything they're saying about terrorists seriously, again? This is, at best, just some sad attempt to keep hyping up the threat to keep justifying all the insane power trips they go on.

We are currently trying for a war with Pakistan and Iran. It is something you notice in the headlines, I was sure we would have had a war a long time ago, but it didn't happen. There was a report recently going over all the classified documents released about terrorism and these two countries and the question gets asked, why were they all released at once and at this specific time?

Iran is not the entire world, and if the Iranian government openly attacks the US, only then would we go to war, and I'm sure all of Nato would stand by us, and I doubt very many of it's allies would stand by it after they openly attack a super power.
