I work somewhere putting tires on peoples vehicles and the like in VA. There's two ways this can go for me: a bunch of mongs slide in at once and make me work my ass off to replace the bald tires they should have gotten around to a month ago, or I won't see a soul and I can just stare out of the window for 9 hours. Either way, probably won't be fun, but it'll definitely be interesting.
I'm going to fucking die. They're most likely closing the cafeterias on campus and i just spent my last $15 on vodka. I plan on taking this storm on like a Finn.
Not sure if anyone knows where McLean, VA is but yeah gonna be interesting to see how this plays out Stocked up today on a bunchh of stuff, shelves were empty and the store was full though
If anyone in the area goes to Tysons Corner they'll know where McLean is
Western NC also. I'm excited and prepped. Got ice melt, firewood, sled. Bring it on Jonas! Western NC facepunchers should meet up some how to make a snowfort and defend it from the crazed milk and bread hoarders.

I'm surprised Canada isn't getting any of this
I wish we'd get snow like this on the Gulf Coast :< All I'm getting here is cold and fuckin' tornadoes and shit, I haven't seen snow in a long time now it sucks.

Behold, a link which provides information which may be of use to you if you're about to be buried under a decade's worth of snowfall: How To Drive In The Snow, In A Regular-Ass Car, Without Freaking Out

No one in manassas knows how to fucking drive in snow. People are going to die.
Behold, a link which provides information which may be of use to you if you're about to be buried under a decade's worth of snowfall: How To Drive In The Snow, In A Regular-Ass Car, Without Freaking Out
Advanced driving tip: If you're "stuck", try turning off "traction control" until you're again moving. This system will cause the mightiest of 4WD rigs to fail... Your vehicle will handle differently with it off, so be careful. I've only chained up once (due to 5" of slush/ice/slush in the driveway) in my 2015 Ford Fiesta in over 1k MI of Oregon snow so far this winter due to this. Granted, I'm also running Blizzak WS80s, but this is in shit that's commonly at or above my axles. Another tip: If FWD and a solo driver, get a bag of sand and drape it in front of the rear seat in the center. Do have it in a garbage bag. This does double duty of both being a mobile source of traction in an emergency and also applies more weight to all of the wheels. Do keep your tank of gas above 1/2 full. While it reduces the MPG, you're out there to keep moving at this point regardless of the cost. Tip, The Third: Don't go faster than you can stop. Ice, snow, powder, slush-covered, crystals, melting snow slush, and others all have different reactions to different tires in different temperatures. 500ft can mean uncontrollable sliding over a slick powder while before the surface was a sticky powder and thus held excellent deceleration properties with proper tires. Regardless, please let people pass when they try! Can't tell how many times people have literally raced me in safe passing zones when they were before and after quite comfortable doing -20 to -30 MPH...

Be careful if you're out on the road. Last night I went to go get groceries and it took over an hour to drive home two miles on 7. What a lot of people don't know about NOVA is that it's not that people freak out at snow, it's that the authorities are totally incompetent at preparing. We got about an inch of snowfall last night but it caused utter pandemonium because VDOT, in their infinite wisdom, decided that they didn't need to salt or treat the roads at all. By the time they realized how fucking stupid that was, it was too late- the roads had iced over and traffic slowed to a crawl. I'm not going to work tomorrow, whether my workplace is open or not. I'll gladly burn a day of leave if it means not running the risk of getting stuck on 495.
Why do you guys want snow? I can't understand why you'd want something as fucking annoying as it to possibly come around :v:
Why do you guys want snow? I can't understand why you'd want something as fucking annoying as it to possibly come around :v:
We want just enough snow for it to look pretty and feel nice, but not enough to where we lose all power everywhere. It's a fine line v:v:v
NOVA is approaching 30 INCHES OF SNOW people are saying this is going to be worse than the blizzard of 96. God help us all.
Here in western NC (The mountains basically) stores are running out of food. No bread or milk or soup at all. [editline]21st January 2016[/editline] we are fucked.
I can confirm here in Philly, we're running out of food every night now. I came in for the meat department's closing shift and we basically had nothing. Our manager was cutting out chuck roasts to put out because we had zip.
20-32 inches expected in my area. I still need to walk to work since it only closes early in the afternoon. My Dad is also out of state and won't be back until later in the afternoon by plane. Wish me luck.
NOVA is approaching 30 INCHES OF SNOW people are saying this is going to be worse than the blizzard of 96. God help us all.
Take lots of photos for posterity to see what life was like before global climate change
Meanwhile I'm kind of stuck in Newark for the weekend because I'm not gonna put my faith in DPW to get the roads cleared for me to be able to drive back down in time. On the flip side it will be interesting to see what snow is really like in this city.
I live in NOVA, and id probably side with the Western NC guys, fuck NOVA
If you won't die for us, you will die because of us.
My company has servers in Rhode island for the entire national company. Wouldn't be too upset if the servers went down. Maybe I'll get some hours.
I read Blizzard as the company that made WoW and came into this thread a little confused.
Alright I'm in the red part! RIGHT IN TO THE DANGER ZONE
