Does the CIA even have black sites anymore? The extraordinary rendition program ended as soon as Obama took office and we know no one has been sent to Gitmo since then either
Well what sounds more likely? I'd find to hard to believe we'd just give the black sites up.
Literally doesn't say that in the article though. I had to re-read the article to check, it says "...other military prisons". Which I don't see how that can't just be another blacksite, why would they openly admit to moving them there, when you can just say "other military prisons".

I didn't derail that thread to be clear.
These are documented prisoners. You can't have them just "disappear" without trace and accountability.
They literally cannot go to any so-called "black site" without the public knowing full well where said sites are.
When they say other military prisons, they literally mean other military prisons.
You can't honestly be this naive.

They haven't disclosed literally everyone kept at Gitmo, the roster there isn't public knowledge, so transferring them wouldn't be an issue.

Actually in guantanimos case they have disclosed everyone there as they've either been introduced into the court system or have had their home government contacted. It's true there isn't an official list but there are plenty of sources that have cobbled together a fairly detailed list from leaks, releases, and other statements

well seeing as CIA directors have said torturing was near useless bc the information given was 90% horse shit, then black sites which purpose was to perform "advanced interrogation techniques" would also be closed
however that information isnt released to the public so we're gonna have to wait for another whistleblower to confirm it
Gotta love how "fiscal conservatives" say fuck social programs but wanna keep up this prison that burns money.
There's little more than 100 detainees left at the facility and it's still costing about 450 million per year in upkeep, it's a drain on taxpayer money and many international onlookers regard it as equivalent to us running a gulag. It would really serve the US well to close the place.
Is that cost for all of Guantanamo Bay NAS, or just for Camp X-Ray?
Supermax prisons have little prisoner interaction.
And often those in supermax won't be getting out of prison any time in the near future, so even if they were radicalized - so what, they're not going to be able to do anything in prison.
Not to mention, they should attempt really hard to deradicalize all prisoners if possible. If Nazi POWs can be shown the light, surely at least a few of these men can be also.
The Wehrmacht was not all Nazi party supporters, just like the US military isn't made up only of supporters of the current President.

President Obama's stated upkeep cost for the detention center is 450 million annually, while a DoD report for 2014 stated the total upkeep cost of just the camp (as in the total cost by which the number of prisoners can be divided to get a per-prisoner estimate) in that year was 397 million which includes some 100 million in personnel costs, another 100 in operations and maintenance, another 100 for the office of military commissions, and a final 90 or so in miscellaneous costs.
When you add everything up we are currently paying a little over 4.5 million dollars per detainee to hold just under 100 people.

I'm pretty sure you could just offer people 4.5 million dollars to stop being terrorists and have more success.

I'd take that!
