Penumbra Black Plague is the best Frictional Game title, none of the following games they made ever surpassed it and I cannot recommend it enough.
has it been confirmed that 7 will definitely continue the story of 6? i got the feeling that it's going to be a side story that doesn't really rely heavily on things established in later games but i could be wrong.
It's not a continuation of the story AFAIK but it does take place after the events of 6, so it could be worth seeing the story once just to keep up to date on things. I doubt it'll be necessary. [editline]29th October 2016[/editline]
should I pick up Dead Space?
Yes, make sure you turn v-sync off though.
Penumbra Black Plague is the best Frictional Game title, none of the following games they made ever surpassed it and I cannot recommend it enough.
Personally, I prefer Overture, but imo there's never been a bad Penumbra game. I'll take any of them over Amnesia or Soma any day. [editline]a[/editline] In terms of strictly developer-created content, that is.
I prefer Soma over Penumbra and Amnesia It has the most interesting setting imo Penumbra is still great but i played it too much to get any real scares from it Amnesia kinda gets ruined with how th monsters worked [sp]the monsters rarely stick around to patrol the area and will usually leave in few minutes after spawning. You can avoid almost all encounters by sucking your thumb in some corner until the music stops playing [/sp]
Do yourselves a favour and buy Darkest Dungeon, a fantastic game.
Requim won't even fucking work for me is it worth the hassle should I just watch a let's play of it?
Requiem is just a puzzle game. There's not a single enemy in the entire game, nor is there any other threat. Literally don't bother with it. Overture / Black Plague is all you need. [editline]30th October 2016[/editline]
Whoa there, let's not forget about SOMA!
I thought SOMA was obnoxious with its teleporting enemies, overly simplified and quite frankly a chore to go through. It's a fun story but you have to wallow through some pretty dull shit to get it.

SOMA and Penumbra: Black Plague have so much in common that I don't understand that insult. Review scores are the same, both games are well polished with great story, environments, interactivity and sound design.

Review scores are the same, both games are well polished with great story, environments, interactivity and sound design.
SOMA doesn't really have puzzles as much as brief interludes in really long walking sequences. The puzzle structure of Penumbra and Amnesia got lost somewhere along the way. Basically SOMA kind of sits in an awkward spot where it's not quite a walking simulator but doesn't do enough to not be one. In Penumbra you could actually somewhat get stumped at a puzzle, and you'd have to take the time to sit back, think about it and figure out a way through. This kind of puzzle structure that required somewhat creative thinking and involved an actual inventory is something I really miss from modern games. Amnesia had problems linked to its level structure and enemy designs, but at least still had a puzzle structure that required you to identify a problem, identify a solution, and apply the solution. This meant that despite the game being mostly about walking, you'd still have something to do along the way that involved more than listening to a fairly predictable story.
Zombi is a good game, I have the Wii U version but if you don't have a Wii U I'd say pick it up. There are lots of good points about it, even if it's a little slower paced game. Also don't forget about Pathologic, neat Russian game. I've played a little bit of the original, want to play more of this
