I always look at the reviews, get them from multiple sources. But I do also see the benefit of getting a game blind. I love Blue Shift, but I only found out later on that apparently it sucked.
Buying blind has resulting in me loosing shit-tons of money.
Never again. Even if it's just skipping to the end of of the review and seeing the conclusion, it's better than nothing.
Yeah but sometimes the review definitely has a bit of bias. Game Trailer's review of Mod Nation Racers comes to mind.
i'm buying it
Very good.
From what iv'e seen so far, this game is a total piece of shit.

Listening to reviews has lost me lots of money. End up buying supposedly "good" games that are actually a crock of shit, or even avoiding good ones that are supposedly bad. If I go by instinct I usually end up with nothing less than the best of the best.
Dice might be ok.
How about everyone just stops making the repetitive modern combat shit.
Battlefield 2
Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Battlefield Bad Company
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Battlefield: Modern Combat
Medal of Honor
Almost all the games in that list have so much in common.
I'm probably forgetting a shit ton too.
Meh, i didn't like the beta and Level based games besides Bad Company 2 arent my thing.
Oh god yes, this, please.
Some creativity in the industry would be nice.
Weren't we just finished complaining about all the World War II shooters?

The modern combat stuff is the next WWII shit.

So then what next? We can't touch the Iraq War, Six Days in Fallujah(sp?) showed us that.
Oh wait modern...well, Veitnam, The Forgotten War...actually that one would be interesting.
I'm not really tired of Modern War games. I'm just tired of them in FPS, I love WiC.
I would love a good casual WWII shooter, there haven't been many recently.
I like the look of MoH and the beta was fun, So I should be buying it.
They are blatantly ripping off Modern Warfare on the singleplayer front
while on the multiplayer they got Dice to do their dirty work for them, which is a clunky, uninspiring Modern Warfare copy.
and they expect good sales?
The game is clearly targeted for the average Call of Duty player, but guess what, EA? They will go and buy Black Ops instead. While the hardcore gamers know better.
Perhaps you would get better sales by developing a game set in a different era than the Afghanistan-war (I wouldn't mind going back to WW2 again, been a while since last time) and getting some new ideas instead of pathetically ripping off the Modern Warfare franchise.
Kevlar, have you seen the actual story plot at all? They're in Afghanistan, and I don't think they'll be leaving because of some convoluted conspiracy storyline.
I won't buy this (not that I would anyway) and maybe they'll come up with a formula that isn't eight years old. Of course, it'd be better if we could kill off MW but what're you going to do.
Soon: Generic scifi shooters everywhere.
Can't wait for Future Warfare

Don't we already kinda have that though? Killzone and Halo, GoW and Mass Effect...
Admittedly, each has its own sort of style, futuristic thing going on and such.
Meh, I'm still on the fence about buying this game. The singleplayer will most likley be good but the multiplayer I couldn't give a toss about, it's nothing new.
I really don't know, it's a bit silly of them to spend so much money on something that's been done a hundred times before so not sure if I feel bad for them or not.
I can't think of a single innovation that MoH has brought to the table in recent years. It's time for it to die.
How about we all stop buying DICE games until they switch from their frustrating server side hit registry to client side. :keke:

It's not mainstream yet. By mainstream I mean that not every dev wants to make a game about it, unlike modern times right now.
I stopped caring after Allied Assault :colbert:
Let EA drop it so that BF3 gets the attention it deserves.

How can you put BF2 in there when it came out way before those in a time when there was very little like it.
It was a nice big step up for fps gaming on a grand scale.
Also, Bad Company 2 may look similar to all modern FPS games, but I dont think theres many games like it.
Free-roaming fps/vehicular combat in a modern warzone. It's a shame it was rushed or it might have actually been good. (or maybe its the fact that it was designed for consoles)
They should release a graphically updated version of Allied Assault.
A steampunk version would be pretty badass too. Steam automaton nazis? Fuck yeah!
Oh come on, Linkin Park soundtrack? Instant loss in sales right there.
I hope it sells 2'999'999 units :v:

Battlefield 2(Battlefield: Modern Combat) *Same game
Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Battlefield Bad Company
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Medal of Honor
You know how you could switch things up to make a World War II FPS different? Put it in the Axis perspective.

That'd be amazing.
