The difference being trying to justify burning people makes you a douche, and thinking burning people doesn't hurt them makes you insane. And his ban history is like two and a half 8x11 letter papers long. Facepunch isn't exclusively liberal, anyway, and bans start coming along when people want to disguise their rancid or vapid or toxic attacks or stupidity in the form of a semi-debate that goes nowhere, not when the majority of members get pissed. And even then some people slip by. People get off with, "he's an asshole but we agree with his points so no". Most of these debates end up with one side either posting "lol idc anymore" in some passive aggressive holier-than-thou manner after they've think they've won the debate (you can't actually win a debate about existential shit by being right or wrong, you can only really "win" by having the majority agree with you), or the thread dying off and everyone making some temporary peace by joking around until the next shitstorm happens. Sometimes the conservatives or those who aren't super liberal "win" out, and sometimes people actually get banned when they act like a toxic idiot who only "wins" because they got a bunch of other toxic idiots to support their opinion, too bad.
