Scientist find Gene that might possibly help regrow limbs for humans

Everyone needs to stop being so pessimistic about it. It's just the beginning findings. Give it some time.
The power of Lin28a appeared to only extend so far. When mice were no longer babies—at five weeks—the scientists were not able to regenerate their limbs, even if the gene was stimulated.
Ding, ding, ding! People! People! Eyes on me! False alarm over here, apologies for the interruption but false alarm! Back to your posts!
Maybe under 5 weeks they were able to?

I wonder if this may become a thing.

I'd think more like a Star Wars bacta tank.
As for the whole lizard thing, lizards are pretty limited in their regenerative capabilities. Most actually cannot. They can drop their tail once. Once that tail is gone, all the nerve endings and meat and such are gone forever. They never regenerate that. What they do is regenerate a cartiloid facsimile. It can't twitch and they can't control it. It's basically a self-manufactured prosthesis after they use their true tail as a get-out-of-being-eaten-free card.
won't be impressed until I can cut my head off, plant it in the dirt and grow a new body.
