No it's just annoying to read it over and over. Then again you probably think it's annoying that I bitch about it so w/e
You can have a different opinion but you don't have to be an asshole about it.
To get back on topic though, what kinds of things would people hope for in a port, just in general for this game? I just want proper kb+m support, graphics options, hopefully higher res textures than the console ones, smooth framerate, and no limiter. I haven't really played much of Max Payne 3, I didn't like it in comparison to the first two, but people are saying the port was pretty excellent, right? So do you think we can hope for a good one? Also, how unlikely do you think modding ability would be? I am really curious about that if anyone has ideas.
He just always feels the need to insert the same opinion into every GTA discussion thread ever. It's funny how many people act as if you are putting a millenia long curse on their family line if you dare say something bad about their precious ancient boxes like you are personally insulting them or something. Emotionally detach yourselves, Jesus.
It's not, it's just fucking annoying, like we get it, you want your 1080p with your perfect textures and super smooth framerate so you can jerk it whilst you play, but does it have to we said in every thread for GTA? Maybe I forgot what website I'm on.
So you go into a thread about GTA V coming to PC then complain about all the people talking about GTA V on PC??? Or are you talking about the threads? I don't know if you know this but the community here is kinda big on PC gaming and if any news on one of the most anticipated games coming to PC is announced we like to hear about it.
No it's more because of the constant bitching about how awful it runs on console or how those old pieces of shit can't capture just how amazing the game really truly is, on PC! I want it for PC too but Christ
To get back on topic though, what kinds of things would people hope for in a port, just in general for this game? And MP3 is a linear corrider-shooter, it was really well optimized though so hopefully they've learned.
Whatever
Meh, sorry that sounded really dickish. I totally get what you mean, having a constant reminder of how much people want it can be annoying, but this is a thread about that very fact not a general GTA thread.
Just wait for the PC version instead of caving in and buying a console to play it on. It's great but don't get tempted by the hype. It's not worth an extra $300 if that's all you're planning to play on it
Why wouldn't you have a PS3 for Demon's Souls, MGS4, Uncharted 1/2/3, The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, Killzone 2/3, Resistance 1/2/3, Ratchet and Clank, Yakuza 3/4, and Journey? Jesus. You guys missed out on a lot of games.

Jesus. You guys missed out on a lot of games.
Wanting a console for it's exclusives is an extremely subjective thing. I am personally only interested in Demon's Souls (great game btw) and Journey on that list for example, and it's going to vary between everyone. Plus, wanting something for PC doesn't mean you don't have a console, it might just mean you don't want to play that game on one.
He didn't say it like that at all.
Any mention of "you guys missed out on a lot of games" tend to start arguments and debates. Even if he didn't intend it, it's just not something you say in a thread already hot with PC vs Console posts.

I wish they'd just announce the release date. All my friends are playing it and it's a bitch to avoid spoilers, so I'm on the verge of buying a copy for my 360 now and another when the PC version comes out. Rockstar North deserves the money anyways.
What about the people who have PCs that are pretty much incapable of playing GTA? Even with everything on low GTA IV runs like utter ass on my PC, I would kill for it to run 30fps @ 720p. With GTA V I decided to refuse probable better visual quality and get it for a console instead so I can actually play it without being frustrated.
GTAIV tends to run like utter ass in general, it's unoptimized.
Would has thought since the xbox and ps4 use a similar architecture to pc that it would be a semi quick port
Would has thought since the xbox and ps4 use a similar architecture to pc that it would be a semi quick port
Porting is not that simple at all, and the similar architectures simply make porting easier, not easy at all. And this was a game designed for the 360 and PS3, not nextgen consoles. Plus, the nextgen consoles aren't well known yet, so they likely have to develop tools and techniques to work their engine on these brand new platforms.
i really don't get it. what makes it hard to develop for PC when it's developed on it in the first place? how much code do you have to rewrite, if any? what about the assets? pardon my ignorance but i really want some justification on why R*'s taking so fucking long! :v:
Consoles can code a lot more "down to the metal", compared to PCs where you are more high-level. You have optimizations to make in both cases, they're just wildly different on each platform. For example on PS3 you have to use the SPUs properly.
Awesome. Feeling pretty good since I predicted this. Yeah not a long shot, but let me have this please.
To be fair it looks like there is a shit ton of stuff happening on screen. Still, 16 frames? Uegh
GTA V works like shit, telling you first hand. There were those rumors invloving the nvidia leak of GTA V actually being developed with the PS4 in mind. It would make sense. And it would be good news for PC users, I suppose.
Very, very skeptical-worthy. But then, if this is really true, MTA devs? Will they finally work their magic along with MTA developers to allow 50+ at least?
No. Back in the MTA:SA Race days, we had contact with a few Rockstar devs. We didn't get any information from them for the game's back end, but once hot coffee happened, all that shit was shut down. I know 2 MTA devs who are still buddies with a few guys from Rockstar, the one I quoted being one of them. Rockstar has pretty much taken our ideology and simplified it along with making it more user friendly. I fully support them for that. But I am also fairly against these paid cards. We have 1 dude already working on a lot of stuff for GTA5. He's been tearing apart the console files. Got all the scripts ripped, which make up 90% of the game's mission content and such. Rockstar could support 50+ players using their own netcode. They choose not to for whatever reason. I guess P2P is the real limitation.
That's very informative. Thank you. Were Rockstar impressed by what had/has been achieved with MTA? What paid cards are you referring to by the way?
That's very informative. Thank you. Were Rockstar impressed by what had/has been achieved with MTA? What paid cards are you referring to by the way?
There was a DLC leak. 3 real cash -> ingame cash 'cards' you can buy. Rockstar has always been impressed with what has been accomplished with MTA. While I can't find the sources at this moment, back in 2005 we had contact from some high ups via e-mail stating they really enjoyed MTA and even some of the staff played it. Here's all the press MTA has received over the years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi_Theft_Auto#References
so if I'm understanding this right, you're saying GTA V PC is coming out (or did you mean getting announced?) in november of this year, and you're not being the world's most cruel troll?
Yes. Most likely. 2 sources say yes, so... You never know, they could just suddenly change their mind, but I surely hope not.
Yes. Most likely. 2 sources say yes, so... You never know, they could just suddenly change their mind, but I surely hope not.
are you sure of the integrity of the sources yourself?
are you sure of the integrity of the sources yourself?
Both of them have been with MTA since the GTA:AM/MTA 0.1 days, so yeah. They've helped us get in contact with R* in the past, I'm very sure.
GTAIV tends to run like utter ass in general, it's unoptimized.
That it is, but that is my overwhelming experience of the current GTA engine on PC so why would I want to wait 6-12 months to find out that it could possibly run like that when I could buy it now and play it now at a mostly stable FPS. Also, that video linked on the previous page is interesting but doesn't match my experience, I only noticed an FPS drop when I was [sp]doing things underwater with the sub[/sp]. It got really laggy. [editline]24th September 2013[/editline]
There was a DLC leak. 3 real cash -> ingame cash 'cards' you can buy.
That was listed alongside redeemable codes (such as the one from the blimp). Without context no one has any idea for what reason they exist, they could be used by Rockstar as prizes or something.
Both of them have been with MTA since the GTA:AM/MTA 0.1 days, so yeah. They've helped us get in contact with R* in the past, I'm very sure.
well that's pretty excellent to hear. I was really hoping the release gap would begin to close with GTA V.
Well considering MP3 ran fantastically on the exact same engine, so we know it;ll probably run well. And that video is an encompassing benchmark on standard hardware, just because it wasn't obvious to you, doesn't mean it wasn't obvious to someone else. I noticed fps drops all the time playing on my friend's 360.
