Wait, why do I have the Payday 2 beta in my Steam, is this a free thing or do I have the actual game?
Read a post above. Also, overkill are bros (if you didnt know), they gave out some free keys on our Payday 2 megathread to some people who wanted them iirc.
I bought career criminal solely to support the wonderful devs.
Might do it again to someone lucky enough since i got 400 dollars in birthday money.
I can't express how much these guys deserve it, its hard to find a true sequel like this, that improves and expands into (almost) every aspect of the game, sure there are some small flaws (Crime.net comes to mind, its just a bad gimmick, but its easily not a game-breaker) but they are easily surpassed by the positive aspects, and they also have amazing people behind it, who pretty much interact and listen to what the community wants, I've been enjoying the beta a whole lot, and I will pretty much forget how the sun looks like when it releases.

You know I always loved you.
Word of mouth alone is not usually successful. Look at Psychonauts. Critical acclaim, us nerds love it, commercial flop. That's why we aren't getting a sequel any time soon.
Let me deposit the money into my bank account and i'll figure out how many CCE edition's I want to buy.
that was before the internet was as popular as it is now
Increasing internet use in the developed world has been capping off. There's only like a 1.5x increase since 2005 when Psychonauts came out. I'd hardly classify that as a game changing explosion. Plus I'm positive I can find tons of modern examples to prove my point.
Am I the only one who likes the new successful music over the old one?

I mean the old one was badass but this one's just even more badass
Is this game PC only? I would love to buy it I it was on consoles, I think it would be cool on the Wii U
First person to quote me gets a payday 2 beta invite.
Edit: as soon i get on my PC

If you're seriously considering it, I'd kill for a copy to give to my friend. But let's not turn this thread in a beggar's fest, shall we?

You are Winner!
i cant wait till they show how you can customize your hideout with offshore money, and how they finally tweaked that if you have hostages it lowers the amount of cops in assault waves. i got into the beta and LOVED it, i already preordered it and cant wait for release.

i'd say how we used the internet 8 or so years ago has changed quite a lot by now, we didn't have the same social media aspect to the internet at all, is quite an important thing to look at if you're going to say the internet doesn't make a huge difference
Thinking of preordering, but since it's a cooperative game, how's the community?
Thinking of preordering, but since it's a cooperative game, how's the community?
The game is best if you find friends, most of the pubs aren't too bad except you'll probably find people with the "T$E" tag which is basically the "pro" payday clan and while they are good, a good amount of the members just use the tag and act like twats, giving the group a bad name.
But still pre-order, easily one of the most refreshing sequels in years.

The games have kickass soundtracks, seriously

depends on who youre marketing to
gta would never become a cultural icon if rockstar didnt redefine what it means to market a videogame
505 games doesnt have the money to make itself a house hold name
while rockstar spends a lot of money on marketing, gta1&2 set its cultural status
while rockstar spends a lot of money on marketing, gta1&2 set its cultural status
i think gta 3 was when it all kicked off though, its been a while though
This convinced me to pre-order.
Have my money, developers.
"Cash is King"
I'm surprised anything with clowns on the cover could sell so well.

Funny thing about that, one person I spoke to didn't look into the game because she saw the cover and assumed it was some juggalo trash :v:

I feel guilty about asking, but is there any chance I could get a copy? I'd be glad to make you a wallpaper or something in SFM, or try rigging some models for a mod or something for you.
This game just reminds me of how much I want a proper sequel to SWAT 4.
I dunno. I don't trust news about the success of viral marketing.
Most viral phenomena in the last years were pushed by major PR agencies, Gangnam Style and that shuffle thing are the most recent examples. They were all the work of major huge global companies, not viral success.
I also don't trust the "all the money for development" stuff, after all you can buy Payday 2 promo items from E3 on ebay.
And even while they might have big viral success, market analysts are not idiots. Our gut feeling might like the underdog and "true to the ideals" winning but fact is, stuff sells better with more advertisement.
I particular I remember the "John Carter is a flop" thread where heaps of people didn't even know the film existed and said they would be interested and anecdotal stuff aside, the statistics don't lie and the statistics say : per dollar return goes up the more you advertise.
Of course as long as you have a good game.
But lets face it: The game being a success already without much adds doesn't mean they wouldn't have gotten 10 times the sales WITH adds.
yeah i too love power chords and pinch harmonics
good thing there's a severe lack of notable power chords in that song and no obvious use of pinch harmonics. This song, as well as every other one, was made entirely in Ableton Live using only two preset programs, NI Komplete and Nexus 2. No MIDI keyboard, no external mixing table, and the only hint of guitar use was Simon Vikund's use of the NI Guitar Rig distortion used through Nexus 2.

In short, you're a fucking moron and don't know what you're talking about.
