Holy shit Cops and crooks seems pretty massive.
"fetch" quests: Johnson, go collect 10 wolves pelts
Did Rockstar hire Altimor to work his magic?
Didn't make it to GTA IV which was on PC too. And regardless of which, rendering doesn't make any difference when it comes to networking stuff, it's not like they stream HD graphics, they just stream the most essential of stuff for communication between the clients, rest is done by the client.
Should I remind you that GTA IV also has pedestrians, traffic and police?
I honestly had very little interest in this game at first but I'm starting to want it a lot now.
The more the merrier!
Holy shit Cops and crooks seems pretty massive.
LCPD: The Game Hell, you could make an entire fucking multiplayer only game revolving around CnC in GTA
GTA:SA networking was insecure and just broadcasted basic updates. But more than 32 players is possible.
What about Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod? that game is bigger, has more physics, and more of just about everything, no? And last I heard, it supports over 2000 players.
That's because it only syncs player data, it doesn't run its own complete world simulation. If you'd use this method you can (A) have connection problems with individual players, (B) cheat stupidly easy by messing with the data on your client. Mods can pull this off just fine because they rely on community management. Professional game studios are expected to keep their online environment free of cheaters.

GTA5's has more density, but JC2 has less density and more terrain. not only that but 64 players is way more than enough for most people.
Different locations too, you can be in the city or in the forest or in the mountains or wherever else
What about a king of the hill game mode? But the "HILL" is mount chilliad. 32 players assulting a mountain top in planes and tanks and cars and bikes would play.

It made sense to release GTA online after launch, but it is also probably a good thing because rockstar social club still isn't really working right.
stuff a bunch of players on bikes in the back of a plane and airdrop them off on the top of a mountain too bad there's no planes with open backs to do that
except for the plane in that one mission with merriweather that could fit 10 jeeps in.
Now this may be hearsay and speculation but I read someone say that there were 17 players in that scene when they originally teased multiplayer on the first gameplay trailer. When its looking out from the skyscraper loft out into the city with jets and such flying by. Again, this may not be true but I do remember reading 17 which would back this up as not a limit of 16.

(since it now states 16 players), but then again i simply take that the hardware is not powerful enough to handle it.
Everybody here are really optimistic. Don't you fail to notice the "RUMOUR" part?
I, for one, am excited to play on a 50 square mile map with as many players as there are in a typical TF2 server.
If they do expand the console versions to 32 with good stability then they should be able to boost up the PC version no problem.
If they do expand the console versions to 32 with good stability then they should be able to boost up the PC version no problem.
128 players for PC (when ever it comes out) please
I hope there are random events in Online, Like a massive riot, or some sort of viral epidemic, like the flu or someshit. And there's widespread looting and murdering and explosions and shit. Like the last few missions in San Andreas.

GTA IV already supported 32 players on PC, so I'm expecting GTA Online to support 64 players on PC.
Funny how the game made by rockstar themselves support only 16 (possibly 32) players, but their old game san andreas has support for 200+, and that multiplayer was created by fans. Weird innit?
community 1 rockstar 0 wake up sheeple

Weird innit?
SA-MP's server uses very little resources because it trusts a ton to clients like moving and taking damage (which is why you have to lead people by their ping). It's less intensive but insecure as hell and terrible in high latency/packet loss situations.
Zombie mod for PC would be fantastic. Would probably never happen, but still.
the sad thing is that everyone will inevitably start playing only free roam and all the other game modes will be empty
