Giant 3-D Printer to Make An Entire House in 20 Hours

New way to make tenements.
I seriously doubt this thing can handle wiring and plumbing.
The point isn't to make a fully functional house, just the basic structure out of a single material. I don't know why my previous posts got so many dumbs. At least quote me and give me something to debate if you're going to rate me dumb.
Standard Template Construct technology, here we come!
Praise the Omnissiah!
I'd much rather have a hand-built house. If I had the time and skills I'd like to build my own house one day.
Much of the notion of standardisation doesn't sit well with me
It's a 3D Printer though, it doesn't have to be standardised. Design your own house and have it built within days, sounds pretty awesome to me.
How about rebars?
How about rebars?
What houses do you know that need reinforced concrete?
How about rebars?
It could print that too.
Then you realize how many jobs were "lost" in building of that house.
I don't mean that as argument against this technology; not at all.
You, however, have to consider this when you think about future.
There won't be work to do.

Someones going to have to build and maintain the printers. Jobs created!
Watch me turn bullshit into political spin.

That's never going to make as many jobs plus that's job for engineers. Not average jobless joe.
things got to change.

Timely reminder that the 3D chocolate printer exists. Good start.
But the method is nearly identical. Replace the drill with some kind of substance and you end up with like a Maker Bot.
Drilling and machining is subtractive manufacturing - you have a block of material, you keep removing it until you have the part you wanted.
3D printing is additive manufacturing, as in you create the part by adding more material to it in the needed places.
So no, it's really not identical, more like completely opposite.

A lot of houses are already standardised even though they are built by hand.
I don't think the construction industry would be too happy. But it's a great leap forward. Seems like we're in the robotic revolution right now.
There will still be jobs for electricians, plumbers and all the other intricate stuff. I think it would be pretty damn cool to go into an estate agent, speak with one of their designers and have them create a house to your exact specifications.
Watch as the guys at bad dragon get a hold of this and make the biggest dragon dildo in the world.
reminds me of starcraft 2 when terrans build something
Huge ass 3D printers are an absolutely wonderful idea, imagine this:
Design your own personal car/truck/atv down to the type of bolts/screws/lights it'll use.
On homes its infinitely better:
Setting up areas for massive home audio/kitchens/multistoryness
Custom door and window designs.
Obnoxiously easy-to-access plumbing and electrical for maintenance.
The coolest part? (IMHO)
Structures from your favorite game/show/movie.
R.P.D here I come!

We'll still need plumbers, contracters electricians, and pretty much everyone else other than Bob the builder who's only job is to hang the drywall. And then, it will take a lot of people to build, maintain, design and redesign, etc these giant 3D printers if they become common. In turn, this will make houses quicker and easier to make.
