I don't know. I think that when enough indications point towards a result, we've got one, albeit unconfirmed in the strictly academic sense. It's kinda obvious that dumb people would be the ones to hold everyone back.
They'd say you're holding us back yourself by not being a racist.

A good compromise would be that i only be discriminating towards people who find me not discriminating enough.
I'd rather stick to what is confirmed and unconfirmed before making assumptions, even if based on what is perceived to be obvious. But that's just me.
There's doing that, then there's assuming within reason and then there's what you're accusing me of, whic is chasing gold at the end of the rainbow. If you spend your life waiting to confirm the obvious, you'll never get anywhere. Even the most trivial stuff would have to be confirmed all of the time since you pretty much make every decision in your life based on assumptions. You go to bed on the assumption that it's night based on claims by your clock and the fact that the sky is dark. It is however unconfirmed if the sun ever went down since you did not observe it do so.
If a tree shits in the woods, is your girl really a dolphin?

There's nothing wrong with a healthy amount of skepticism. I'm not saying deny everything. Just hold in the back of your mind that it is, in the end, an unconfirmed assumption. And if that's what it is, then only speak of it as such. Not as fact.

"Reason dictates" is pretty much implied when people refer to something as a fact, as much as "I know for a fact" is. Which is entirely dependant on character of the individual.
