I remember when Germany banned Facebook 'likes' on German websites everyone was all laughing at how stupid it was, and even calling it fascist.
For the last time, it wasn't Germany as a whole, just Schleswig-Holstein.
[editline]18th November 2011[/editline]
So it only affects websites based in Schleswig-Holstein. (Who could easily move their files/servers to any of the other 15 German states if they wanted to keep using that Facebook "like" application.)
[editline]18th November 2011[/editline]
And I'm pretty sure there aren't a lot of websites based in Schleswig-Holstein who have the Facebook like application.
Facebook cookies removed, repeated accepting of them disabled.
Bye Fb.
Now do it for google.

Simple addons came make your life better.
Just a heads up to people using Safari, cookie settings were moved from Security to Privacy in the preferences window in the last couple updates.
I've known this for quite a while. I have a set up where facebook can't do anything unless I'm on their site.

I always cringe when people do that.

http://www.ghostery.com/
Also block cookies of course
http://www.ghostery.com/download
Ghostery is available for Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer and Mobile iOS (iphones).
So, everyone should get it. no real excuse not too, really.
Google/bing and other social networks do this, how is this news to anyone with a brain.
Good thing I left facebook a while ago.
Facebook sucks.
Facebook sucks.
I really just wish people would hurry up and move on over to Google+, it's so much cleaner, easier to use, more responsive, aesthetically appealing, etc.

I never said they didn't, I was just agreeing with "facebook sucks".
Facebook sucks.
And everyone is flooding my wall with fucking shitty flash games
I would get off of facebook for good if I didn't need it for school probably.
I don't use my Facebook anymore because it took so much of my time and didn't really give me anything in return.
I knew this thread was going to turn into this. You all just jump to crazy conclusions and assume the worst when companies like Google, as said above, do the same exact thing, yet I don't see you guys complaining and cancelling your Google accounts and using some other alternative.
Like I said, this is just a bloated, over exaggerated look at cookies.
You all are just looking for excuses to hate on Facebook because for some reason you feel like everyone is out to get you and destroy your privacy.
Fuck, you all were up in arms about Origin, when Steam did the same exact shit.
Im confused.. Will Facebook make this information public, to my friends? (Browsing history etc.)
How do you do this?
I want to know.
In firefox, you can delete cookies in privacy properties.
For blocking them from being accepted again, you probably need some addon. Just look around, they are numerous.
Hmmm ... good to know.
Doesn't it only track the stuff you "like" though? As long as you don't click the Facebook Like button on porn sites you'll be fine
Doesn't it only track the stuff you "like" though? As long as you don't click the Facebook Like button on porn sites you'll be fine
I think they actually can record your movement the moment you load the "button" on the page, not even click it.
I'm using ad block plus and Facebook disconnect! Fuck you Facebook!
am i the only one who literally couldn't give a shit if facebook tracks what websites i visit?
Oh god facebook can tell i look at facepunch what a breach of my privacy!!!!!!! lol no
Well, it's a dick move on their part, but I don't really care about them tracking what websites I visit.
Well, it's a dick move on their part, but I don't really care about them tracking what websites I visit.
The problem is, the browsing history is planned to be published on your wall. You visit a porn site once, even by mistake (aka annoying popups of livejasmin everytime you go on megaupload), it's shown on your wall. Also, it means you get intensive advertising according to the website you visited. Once again, it means because of all the porn/meeting sites pop-up, you will get flooded of spam mails and pop up about that shit as well.

When people begin to tolerate small breaches of privacy it enables these kinds of companies to take even further strides later on.
Do you condone the widespread use of CCTV in western nations just because you're not a criminal and not doing anything illegal?
I don't understand, can my friends or just Facebook see my cookies of porn?
This scares me
