Just facebook. I'm pretty sure facebook doesn't just publish your history unless you do it yourself.

ITT: People with no one to talk to on Facebook use this as an excuse to deactivate their account What Facebook is doing isn't really all that bad ... If I ran a website with billions of hits per month, I would also try to gather some data on the users - think Google AdSense, but 10x better! That said, I use Firefox (with delete private data on exit) for Facebook and Chrome for everything else, so I'm not even affected :v:
Doesn't matter what they were originally for, they've been used for this same exact purpose on other sites and even games. It's not new.
No. If you want to participate in the tracking cookie garbage, traditionally, you have to "opt-in" so to speak as the website owner, because the piece of code that tracks you has to be installed by yourself or through your ad campaign service. With this, you unknowingly opt-in just by having a "Like" button on your page. It's the biggest tracking scam that nobody even knew they were putting on their private websites.
Data about web searches and browsing habits could be used to figure out political affiliations, religious beliefs, sexual orientations or health issues about consumers.
Haha oh man I'm fucked.

Ehh I don't really care about it, if facebook knows exactly where I live or that I like to watch porn then so be it.
It's just the way of advertisements, it's not like any of you have anything to hide, truly. They aren't doing this to enslave you or whatever, they just want to send people in the "democrat" category certain types of ads, no one reviews it, it's all computer algorithms and shit.

Wait, wouldn't facebook, the application on phones do the same? I mean it's running as a service and it pops up everytime I task kill it... Oh shit,. It monitors team shit I do.... The to uninstall that app...
The problem is, the browsing history is planned to be published on your wall. You visit a porn site once, even by mistake (aka annoying popups of livejasmin everytime you go on megaupload), it's shown on your wall. Also, it means you get intensive advertising according to the website you visited. Once again, it means because of all the porn/meeting sites pop-up, you will get flooded of spam mails and pop up about that shit as well.
None of that is even true, but ok whatever. [editline]19th November 2011[/editline]
When people begin to tolerate small breaches of privacy it enables these kinds of companies to take even further strides later on. Do you condone the widespread use of CCTV in western nations just because you're not a criminal and not doing anything illegal?
I honestly don't really give a crap if companies can see what I do. Government is a completely different story though

The moment I saw this article, I just HAD to put this on: Oh well, Facebook is shit, used it before, never liked it.
Oh well, Facebook is shit, never used it and never liked it.
How do you know you dont like it if you haven't tried it?
Like I said, this is just a bloated, over exaggerated look at cookies. You all are just looking for excuses to hate on Facebook because for some reason you feel like everyone is out to get you and destroy your privacy.
yeah its not like their business is based on targeting ads based on what people generally consider to be private would you feel comfortable if there was someone following you around recording what you buy, how long you browse and so on? oh wait you always post stupid shit nevermind
How do you know you dont like it if you haven't tried it?
I made a account a while back during Marvel Vs. Capcom 3's updates and the usual 'Beg this character in the game'...it was absolute shit with all status updates, people spamming friend invites and being attention whores. (Perhaps I should modify my previous post)
I honestly don't really give a crap if companies can see what I do. Government is a completely different story though
You're american, you should know better that companies like facebook affiliate with government.
of course, what differentiates me from you, posting your unwanted shitty opinion based on pure speculation? Well, I refer you to Dr. Christian Fuchs's research paper entitled 'The Political Economy of Privacy on Facebook', and specifically to the following survey results. I'm pretty sure that 55% of respondents isn't a small number, and concerned people certainly aren't in the fucking minority. So how about you take your "You all are just looking for excuses to hate on Facebook because for some reason you feel like everyone is out to get you" bullshit elsewhere.
The images are so blurry it's painful to read. But that could be just me.
Hey if they want to look at my futa furry bondage diaper porn its fine by me.
I guess Facebook knows I'm into cyborg spiked-tit she-male cat people. Oh well.
Goodbye facebook, I'm never going anywhere near you again
I guess Facebook knows I'm into cyborg spiked-tit she-male cat people. Oh well.
It's probably really hard for you to find porn that matches your fetish.
