• Government warns striking teachers - "All respect will be lost"

Fair for them to do so, government is taking lots of hard earned cash away from people by cutting public sector services hoping that voluntary sector would be able to compensate for this (which so far the number of food banks has risen so has worked but isn't exactly what people wanted) after that they are then using that money to fund something unknown - we have two wars to fund, olympics 2012 to fund, new power stations and fuel prices to fix. The conservatives have probably done well to improve the money that government has available to spend but it's not exactly what everyone wanted.
My college best not close, this is one of the most important courses in my life, i'm not going to want to miss it.
also exams are not really effected since teachers assistants and the exam board people usually stalk around the exam hall during an exam anyways. Well at least that's what happened here

My province's (Saskatchewan) teachers went on strike then moved to job action. They were able to solve the problem and get higher wages. I hope these teachers will be able to get higher wages to support themselves and their families. I have the utmost respect for teachers, because their job is actually pretty hard.
I can sympathise with the teachers, they are being screwed over in loads of ways by this - pension, current pay and amount of work, whilst having lower budgets on equipment for school. Meanwhile, the Conservatives are chucking money in wars, the Olympics and general council inefficiancy, and then complaining about how few highly skilled workers there are and deteriorating grades whilst raising university costs and shitting on teachers pensions and salaries. (inflation is above the pay rise) I know that the government is supposed to have more experience and knowledge of how to run things, but I honestly can't see how the fuck it works.
The living conditions in Britain are much much better than those in most other countries.
Teachers work damn hard for shit pay (Compared to other workers IN BRITAIN), they want to speak out about it. They can't go on to the private sector to teach, they do it as a profession to give the next generation the knowledge to run this country. They have more of a right to bitch and moan than most people in Britain. It's for a god damn day, not a year.

"We're going to start paying you less and make you work more hours." "What the fuck?! WHY?!" "Because it's more efficient that way. You're doing more for less, just like a fluorescent light bulb." "Oh, well, yeah, okay. That makes sense. :downs:"
You mean they'll become like the government? They lost "all respect" long ago
