if you have money issues or something there is a reason there.
If you have money issues, you'd spend less cash by getting PS+, epecially if you have not just a ps4 but also ps3 or vita too.
I've got like 30 vita games, 80 ps3 games, and over a dozen ps4 games so far from it, I like approximately 1/3 of them. Incredible deal. I would never be able to afford so many games even only counting the ones i liked.
I only have to actually a few games a year, the occasional new release if its exciting enough.
If you have money issues, you'd spend less cash by getting PS+, epecially if you have not just a ps4 but also ps3 or vita too.
but then your gaming library will be held hostage.
keep paying the 49$ tax or sony will come and take your games away.
also recent PS Plus has been kinda bad, this month the PS4 gets two indie games that have been out for years and a stripped down version of a game that barely has any content to begin with.
Just because 2 or 3 months of the year don't have any games you like doesn't nullify the other 9 months that do.
Either way, I essentially don't pay anything for the service, I make easily 4x more money (in the form of games) off PS+ than I spend, not including the games that I end up hating or already own.
I guess I can see how somebody wouldn't like it if they have a narrow taste in games and hate trying new things, or are wealthy and buy everything already, but I'm none of that so oh well.
Microsoft has shown Sony that people are willing to pay for a non-existent service to play online.

What an incredibly rude and indirect way of insulting people.
No, you don't.
Okay, sure, you don't actually earn the money or anything. But the cash saved from having to actually pay for these games means something. Even if you just got the cheap-ass shit-tier indie game they put up every month (PAL are getting Spelunky for the Oct-Nov release, so the not-so-shit indie game this month), you'd still save some money in the long run.
Yeah you can't play the games once you stop paying the sub, but you and every other account on your console can play these games, and the sub for a year is the cost of a single AAA game. If you want to play the game once your sub is up, the game is probably super cheap to buy a physical copy of by that point anyway. It's not a massively bad deal, at least on the PS3 it wasn't as that had a back catalogue to get through.
Sony have to have something to justify the cost of the PS4 sub, their hosting of the accounts servers and central servers will cost them some money, but they still don't host many actual game servers. I still wish the PS4 sub wasn't required for most games (developers have the option to make their game free, but like fuck the publishers will want that, Sony probably have incentives).
He said (or implied) that a lot of the free games he doesn't intend to buy anyway, so he's earning nothing and only losing. The only money being saved or exchanged is the money he's giving to Sony.

Actually that makes more sense, still, it does give you the chance to actually try the games without worrying about extra money I guess. There are some benefits to it.
No, you don't.

Speak for yourself. Maybe you didn't see $200 worth of games you liked the last 12 months but I did.
If you had signed up from the beginning, based on US PS+ game history, you'd have 155 PS3 games, 20 PS4 games, 55 PS Vita games, and 87 Minis/PS1/PSP games.
You'd also have a bunch of DLC/avatars/themes and of course bigger discounts. Even if for some reason you hated or already had every PS+ game offering, you likely would still get your $50 worth on game discounts.
You can not deny that it's simply the best deal in gaming especially if you are low income and can't afford to buy many games. If not for PS+ I wouldn't even have 1/5th of the games I have available to play if I was to have paid for them. and wouldn't have ever heard of or bothered trying half of the ones I liked, so would have missed out on many wonderful gaming experiences.
Here's what the selection was from June 2012 - May 2013 for example. Sadly I signed up in March 2013 and missed out of a bunch of those but still. There's hundreds of dollars of games there that you are able to play indefinitely as long as you're a member, and they don't take them away each month or each year like some people assume, as long as you add them to your cart and 'buy' them each month then they're in your download list to download whenever you want. (and if you have PS+ you should be hoarding all the games even if you don't currently have the system or want the game)

Rofl okay, because I love the PS+ free* games, I work for Sony, right. I remember a time when you could talk positively about things without being accused of being a shill. Good times.

As long as you like enough of the games that the cost to buy them would be greater than the $50 subscription price, sure.
i dont get the ps plus is good for free games thing

xbox games for gold and steam lets you keep them though.
When does steam give you free games? Are you talking about f2p games? PS4 has f2p games as well, you don't need PS+ to play the f2p (or subscription based mmos) online.
Hell if Steam had an option where you could pay $50 a year and receive 6+ games a month I'd be using that feature too and I bet a lot of people here and in general would too.

Devs tend to give away their games at some points on steam for like a 24 hr period.
I got Sniper Elite V2 from it, but people also gave away red orchestra, payday 1, etc.
sure there's a few games being given away, but they are high quality good games that you can keep forever.

A small handful of games since 2003, or occasional 24 hour trials, isn't really comparable to 300 games in 3 years.
PS+ was good at one time but it has been mostly dogshit for months now, especially for Vita.

You're acting as if people are accusing you based on this one time, when the majority of posts you make are incredibly pro-Sony and anti-MS. Praising Sony doesn't make you an ass, praising the shit out of them and shitting on everyone else's parade just for liking something else makes you an ass.

they arn't 24 hour trials.
the 24 hour window is to get the game forever. after the 24 hour window is up you can't get the game free anymore.
there is also more games that i haven't listed that got the 24 hour free treatment (few valve games did it too like portal and L4D2)

I've never posted anti-anything. I am a lover of video games. I appreciate all systems and games. Just a tip, but saying nice things about Playstation isn't somehow saying bad things about Xbox just because you are an Xbox fanboy.

There's only so much you can do with Vita, most of the good games have already been on PS+.

They burned through almost all of the must haves for the PS3 pretty sharpish, and the Vita has such a small catalogue of decent games, this was bound to happen pretty quickly. I wish I'd gotten in on the whole thing earlier as the PAL region has had some great games that I wanted to try but never had the money to at the time.

I see nothing about that link to suggest I was saying anything negative about non PS systems.
I'm remembering that time when you insisted that GTAV on the 360 had superior graphics to Infamous on PS4, when you went to Infamous forums/threads on neogaf and reddit calling people sheep for thinking it looked fun/pretty, and how every time somebody posts a PS4 screenshot in the "general ingame media" thread, you rate it dumb.
Fanboy behavior is praising one thing while calling everything else shit because it's not that thing, it's a lot like racism, but for games.
Simply praising something doesn't make one a fanboy just like how saying you think spanish women are beautiful isn't racism, but saying all women who aren't spanish are ugly is racism.
People need to learn what a fanboy is.

It would be neat if they would allow you to choose 1 or 2 previous Instant Game Collection games (per system) a month that you missed out on. I'm not sure how hard it would be with licensing issues or if it would cost publishers too much for them to do it though.
It would be even neater if you could just get every game but the costs would probably be obscene to the publishers and Sony (who I assume pays the publishers to cover for lost sales) if you could just get a 3 month sub, and download the previous 300 games.
Did you have PS+ before getting your Vita? If so, you could've been hoarding games via the website for systems you didn't have yet. Hell I only bought a Vita last year because I had like a dozen games that looked interesting but couldn't play, sitting in my list begging me to play them.
As for PS4's IGC mostly being indies, that's because the PS4 is fairly new and doesn't have many games yet. The PS3's IGC only had so many AAA games because the PS3 was already 5 years old. I predict they'll start giving out bigger games once the PS4 is a year old. Driveclub lite is a good start. I bet Knack NFS Rivals or Killzone will be the first full AAA games.

I'd rather they cycled some of the classics back around rather than putting up some awful indie title nobody actually wants. There are some problems with PS+, but without it I would have never found out how fucking awesome XCOM is, and how hilarious their not-Smash Bros is (they tried so hard, but it's just not good).

Did you try The Cave? Or did you join too late for it? That was a great surprise. Never heard of it but as I try all the games, I tried it, and it ended up becoming one of my favorite games.
If you haven't, you should try it, it's clever, unique, and it's from the makers of Psychonauts which is always a good thing.
It's also on Steam for $15, not sure of PSN price. I'm tempted to buy it on Steam too just to give the devs more money.
I could never sign up for something like PS+ or XBL.

I can see where you're coming from as both are obviously an easy money grab, but I mainly pay for my XBL with code cards. For some reason buying a 12 month subscription is almost £30 cheaper than if I was to pay monthly with a card for the same time.
