Nothing to do with jealousy, I just think it's stupid to claim that since your country (which, once again, is just a man made concept of territorial boundaries and culture.) was able to do this because of your economical capabilities and foundations, that "This is a great day for the American people." - No, you're wrong, this is a great day for humanity.
nah man it's a great day for americans
I have never been so excited to see thumbnails before
Thank god everything went cool, time to rest these weary eyes
I think they've all done a marvellous job, just incredible. I just hate patriotism pushed in my face - funded by them or not. Hope to see some incredible images anyway.
lmao one person's sentence-long comment about it being a big day for the usa is hardly patriotism being pushed in your face get over yourself and just be glad for nasa dude, it was amazing what they just accomplished
i mean fukc it might be my altered state of mind, but im in tears. MARS DUDE. ANOTHER FUCKING PLANET. CAN ANYONE BELIEVE TAHT!>
A day we should all remember.
but we weren't talking about them, we were talking about how the US,NASA, and JPL did all the work and its their achievement
Yeah, I agree they should take credit for the hard work and effort. I just don't want them forgetting that the rest of humanity exists :v:

Its a great moment for the US. For Germany. France. Canada. Madagascar. Everyotherfuckingcoutnryever. It is just a little odd for the US to say "ITS SUCH A GREAT MOMENT FOR YOU GERMANY HOLYCRAP"
A day we should all remember.
And yet probably won't see more than three minutes on the morning/nightly news. We've got some fucked up priorities that way.
A day we should all remember.
A day which shall live... in history.
Gay yee Hell.
And yet probably won't see more than three minutes on the morning/nightly news. We've got some fucked up priorities that way.
I'm going to ask my mom and dad if they wonder why I stayed up all night.
Everyone who slept through this is a pig. Really, how can you miss this?
Shows over? I can fap and go to bed now?
lmao one person's sentence-long comment about it being a big day for the usa is hardly patriotism being pushed in your face get over yourself and just be glad for nasa dude, it was amazing what they just accomplished
Wow way to re-spark the argument. I'm going to be the man and back down from it. EDIT: MATE HE COULD HAVE SAID GREAT DAY FOR HUMANITY YEAH
Why is its camera so bad? Or is this not the main camera or something? I'm sure having a tiny HD camera couldn't have been too difficult a feat to put in it right?
It takes a while to download HD photos/videos all the way from mars. The rover is equipped with HD cameras, but those photos wont be received until a few more hours/days. The first picture received was 64x64 pixels. Because it is so small, it could be sent and seen quickly. Also, the lens is initially covered with a dust lens so that martian dust doesn't cover up the lens on landing. The dust lens will be removed soon enough.
And yet probably won't see more than three minutes on the morning/nightly news. We've got some fucked up priorities that way.
I don't see why this is such a big deal anyway, I mean we've sent probes before.
Yeah, I agree they should take credit for the hard work and effort. I just don't want them forgetting that the rest of humanity exists :v:
And nobody is saying that. We're just saying "This is an amazing accomplishment for ALL of us...but let's let America have its moment in the sun." America gets ragged on all the time; it's nice to have something that we, as a country, can be truly proud of.
Everyone who slept through this is a pig. Really, how can you miss this?
I didn't sleep since I know I would miss this if I went to bed.
And yet probably won't see more than three minutes on the morning/nightly news. We've got some fucked up priorities that way.
YEAH WELL JUST LIKE THE HIGGS BOSON; WHAT REAL LIFE APPLICATIONS DOES THIS HAVE? WHY DID MY DEAR TAX MONEY GET WASTED ON THIS?!?!?! /s
I don't see why this is such a big deal anyway, I mean we've sent probes before.
But not this size of a Mini Cooper on a completly new landing system.
Someone told me the reason the images are slightly blurry is because they still have the protective lens cap on it.
One asks, with the 14 minute delay, how does one simply control the rover with that amount of input lag?
Someone told me the reason the images are slightly blurry is because they still have the protective lens cap on it.
Dust cover.
Yeah, I agree they should take credit for the hard work and effort. I just don't want them forgetting that the rest of humanity exists :v:
They aren't? When did anyone say "holy fuck America is amazing we did this shit without the fag bag europeans or Asians or anything cause MERICA YEAH" No, no one said that. If your country did something like this it'd be the exact same
Someone told me the reason the images are slightly blurry is because they still have the protective lens cap on it.
Yes
