One asks, with the 14 minute delay, how does one simply control the rover with that amount of input lag?
planning and practice
Now we wait for the press conference

next rover should be used to construct a martian baja course for future rovers to enjoy
I don't see why this is such a big deal anyway, I mean we've sent probes before.
An entirely new landing procedure for the most advanced rover we have EVER built, armed with the most advanced technology we've conceived, on a mission to discover traces of life on a potentially habitable piece of rock that's between 36-250 MILLION miles away. That's fucking nuts.
One asks, with the 14 minute delay, how does one simply control the rover with that amount of input lag?
It's on a fully automated path, but can have human commands send to it. Plus it's gonna be there for a while, the closest Mars gets to Earth is 4 light minutes and 35 light seconds, so you can greatly reduce input lag that way.
One asks, with the 14 minute delay, how does one simply control the rover with that amount of input lag?
they don't it's automatic
Even cloudflare couldn't withstand the amount of requests :v:
And nobody is saying that. We're just saying "This is an amazing accomplishment for ALL of us...but let's let America have its moment in the sun." America gets ragged on all the time; it's nice to have something that we, as a country, can be truly proud of.
America didn't do this, a team of scientists did.
Shows over? I can fap and go to bed now?
Science makes me damn horny.
Check out 4chan http://boards.4chan.org/b/
Welp, looks like it's done. That was exciting.
Taking advantage of this historic event, one of my facebook friends tries to get some ass... [sp]to no avail[/sp]
Yeah, I agree they should take credit for the hard work and effort. I just don't want them forgetting that the rest of humanity exists :v:
What's wrong with you? Have a little bit of respect.
-snip, son of a bitch-
I think they've all done a marvellous job, just incredible. I just hate patriotism pushed in my face - funded by them or not..
How was it pushed in your face. If anything, you shoved your face into it so you could take offense to it. It was literally an off-the-cuff comment in an interview. If you people are going to complain about what one guy who helped land the rover said, go build your own rover and then tell the Americans to eat a dick or whatever.
They aren't? When did anyone say "holy fuck America is amazing we did this shit without the fag bag europeans or Asians or anything cause MERICA YEAH" No, no one said that. If your country did something like this it'd be the exact same
They didn't, because nobody would put it like that anyway. I'm just saying, instead of JUST saying a great day for America, a great day for humanity wouldn't have gone a miss. But like someone said before, that doctor said exactly the thing so who cares now.. Yeah, we would say that but we're too busy paying taxes fixing our countries bail outs to other countries.
America didn't do this, a team of scientists did.
A team of scientists that work for a US government agency. Seriously, why is it such a big deal for the USA to be celebrating right now? I'd say we've earned it, just as the rest of humanity should be celebrating the accomplishment.
Why is its camera so bad? Or is this not the main camera or something? I'm sure having a tiny HD camera couldn't have been too difficult a feat to put in it right?
do you have any idea how far away it is? it takes me a while just to download an HD image from an american server.
