this is when all the 06ers and 07ers resurface to the form
I remember when that wire mod came out and everybody was using it, boy was young me confused as hell by it
I've only got 44 hours into Gmod but it was one of my first games on Steam after Portal, the Orange Box, and Audiosurf. Only ended up getting it because my best friend kept pestering me about it. (Same with the Orange Box.) Can't say the game itself was a big part of my life or anything but seeing as it's directly the cause of me joining Facepunch it's clearly had a big impact on my life seeing as this is one of the sites I frequent most.
If this a joke, not funny. If it's not a joke, Gmod is ruined. It was fun because it was free, I will never pay $10 for a sandbox game. No matter what new stuff you put in there.
I was trying to google this quote before I posted in this thread, can't remember who had that as a title.
this is when all the 06ers and 07ers resurface to the form
05ers. This game has defined my life when I was 11.
Despite not having played it in years, Garry's Mod still sits as the most played game on my Steam. 979 Hours spent playing Spacebuild, Some Sandbox with Wire Mod, Fretta and Finally Trouble in Terrorist Town after it outlived Fretta as it's own Gamemode. Happy Birthday Gmod!
Garrys mod fundamentally changed my life and made me the person I am today. Thanks gmod!

remember when no one was going to buy gmod 10 and gmod being a mere 10$ was "The worst possible thing", as well as "Amazing because there will be no mingebags no kids would buy a 10$ game!"
yeah, i suppose [sp]i'm remaking it in unreal 4, although very slowly, in my free time. check back in a few years[/sp] :v:
Man, I remember working on a bunch of ISS style parts for a Spacebuild revival that never happened:
happy 10th gmod
Sounds a lot like nox teamplay :v:
Yea that's it. Also I would come to fp just to read the comics, like Kenny the cop
Man those were the days. I got Orange Box that very same Christmas. I spent like 2 days playing GMod 9 until I realized it was on Steam too. It was so magical.
10 years? I remember playing this is 2004. Or is this for when it was officially released?
I made this ten (or twelve) years ago. [t]http://orig06.deviantart.net/fc9c/f/2006/147/2/3/servers_prolouge.jpg[/t] Here's a recent comic I did three weeks ago: http://imgur.com/a/U2Tr1 [t]http://img04.deviantart.net/ca8c/i/2016/311/7/b/servers_redone_part_4_5___birthday_pg_5_by_usaokay-danoco9.png[/t] Feels like yesterday I discovered Garry's Mod on Filefront and then Facepunch right after. I loved the Picture of the Day that the site did, which were mainly Garry's Mod related. Technically if you don't count the Steam version, Garry's Mod is much older than ten years. I know it's continuing to get developed and all, but I hope it has more major updates (like fixing L4D1&2 models god damn)
I first made this account to make some dumb comment on a garrys mod comic. I remember there used to be another forum for them. I think named Public Health Comics or something? They had a crew of regular posters who became characters themselves [editline]29th November 2016[/editline] Found a article that mentions them: Public Health Warning, or PHW https://www.google.ca/amp/s/metrocop.net/2015/04/23/the-five-eras-of-garrys-mod-comics/amp/?client=ms-android-bell-ca I also used to do a lot of mapping in 06/07. I remember making maps based on the old "randumb" maps I thought were real fun in Sven Coop. Gm_WTF and Gm_OMG. Shitty god awfully optimized maps with no sense of direction or unifying theme, just putting in whatever came to mind be it an upside down house, a zombie nightclub, or the temple of time with functioning stones to open the door. Now I work as a modeller in a TV Animation studio. Ive wanted to make maps again, but hammer and the source engine are just so archaic in presentation and workflow compared to modern programs. Good times.
I made a lot of friends in the prime of gmod and some days I really miss the good times I had fucking about on whatever game mode there was. Makes me feel old as fuck tho
It is worth upgrading from v9.0.4?
I feel like I'm one of the only people on here thats never played FP Makes me question how I even got here in the first place tbh, because I honestly dont remember
First thing that made me fully appreciate creating things. All those buggy tools and physics with only so many objects to go on but it pushed creativity for a lot of people I reckon. The crap we could do by v9 was just amazing, truly nothing else like it. I only want one thing for a fully standalone gmod: Make wood wars great again
there are kids playing gmod that were born after gmod came out fuck im old
happy birf gmod
I think GMod might have actually been my first digital game purchase. How the times have changed
Man, I've got 871 hours on this most of the time I was just trying out neat SWEPs I found on the original addon website before Workshop came around. Another thing I liked to do was to spawn a shit ton of npc who are antagonistic to each other and let them have at each other. Reenacted lotr a few times. But what I really love gmod for was introducing me to this place, even if its a small community filled with cynical old people and gas mask collectors, its still my most favorite place on the internet. Happy birthday.
Fuck I was 10 years old and in a month I can drink :s

Lit Fuse Films originated from the community, but PHW really became famous on comics like Jeff, Secret Agent Whiskey, Kenny the Cop, Apostasy, Ravenholm Armory, et cetera. Now, the entire site is pretty much lost to time. The site disappeared several years ago after an internal feud destroyed the community. I'd love to read some of those comics again, but no one really anticipated it would happen. I've heard of efforts to recover the comics, but the "rescue effort" so far has amounted to a few zip files that drift from person to person.
Wasn't that addon called Gmod Plus or something? Damn.
Phoenix Storms iirc, I remember struggling to "install" mods back in 2006
