Here's a recent comic I did three weeks ago:

Feels like yesterday I discovered Garry's Mod on Filefront and then Facepunch right after. I loved the Picture of the Day that the site did, which were mainly Garry's Mod related.
Technically if you don't count the Steam version, Garry's Mod is much older than ten years. I know it's continuing to get developed and all, but I hope it has more major updates (like fixing L4D1&2 models god damn)
Was that comic part of a series? If so I swear I must have read them.
I was probably 12 or something when I discovered gmod 7. So many good times, I remember it would take like a solid 15 minutes to load up a map on my computer, and sometimes when I spawn something it would just freeze for another seconds. Gmod was all about comics to me back then, I remember posting a comic here and being so proud of the good comments I got.
wow gmod is around 12 years old
member when gmod was shown on G4 Tech tv and we were all giddy as hell?
might go for a balloon-filled airboat ride just for the occasion

I remember playing v5. Back then I was amazed at how ragdolls worked, they were still kinda new
Yeah, my Steam account turned 10 yesterday, and tomorrow will be the 10 year anniversary of me buying Gmod. I can't even remember playing it that much tbh
The game is older than the playerbase
woa

damn, i remember when the spawn menu was first put in, changed everything.
before that you had to use buttons on the wall
If only we could turn back time.
I remember buying the game 10 years ago, making some ad-hock rockets and being blown away (no pun intended).
I remember when that wire mod came out and everybody was using it, boy was young me confused as hell by it
The only thing I could make with Wire Mod was that hologram thing.
The only thing i did on gmod was collect models and spawn a ton of them most fun were the breakable one's like the egg and burger, maybe pose some ragdolls and put wheels on random objects, a train body with wheels anyone?
I've only joined a few servers tho didn't find much enjoyment in those mostly due to the lag however I was playing a ton of zombie master around that time.
I think the first image I posted on facepunch was a gmod pose of D0G impaling Breen with a spear.
It was such a shit picture I got banned for it.

I remember when you got banned from the forums a LONG time ago they used to delete your account and make you signup again. Fun times.
I'm pretty sure I made my facepunch account to complain about the fact that it wouldn't be free.
tbh I have fonder memories of gmod 8/9
does anyone remember way back when garrysmod.org was a comic sharing website and the forums had number ratings for posts
I think there was some egotism/elitism going on between the new and veteran comic makers that the forum eventually collapsed upon itself.
Without a doubt.
I was banned on PHW for posting a "sub-par" comic.
Oh boy, lots of familiar faces I don't see often around here.
I lost most of my old, old, old stuff and the rest is hosted on Photobucket and I haven't been fucked to pull them off.
Garry's Mod was first game I bought on steam using my mothers credit card.
I was 13 back then, just arrived to Ireland and didn't have any friends so this was perfect place to have fun and socialize.
Now it's 9 years later, 360+ games more (It kind of escalated quickly), 200+ new friends (had priveledge of meeting some of them irl at events).
I guess Garry's Mod and Facepunch in general has been quite a place for me to socialize as I was growing up and learning English (Which I didn't know at all when I first came to Ireland).
Started playing in v7, when you could attach thrusters to mingebags and blast them across the map. Also racing to get to the nuke button first in rp_hometown_1999 and easywelding it for safekeeping. "WHO DID THAT???" lol.
Damn this takes me back, I still like to jump ingame from time to time and just mess around on random servers but I've got so many memories of being part of communities, taking part in silly machinima collaborations and spending countless hours mapping. This was my goto game, it's how I got into PC gaming and for years it was pretty much all I played, I think if was a pretty unique introduction into gaming and the huge range of gamemodes and mods to play with made it seem like an infinitely-expanding treasure trove that I'd never finish exploring.
There was one gamemode called ReDead that I played once but couldn't find an active server again so I'd often be scanning the server list and rushing in excitement to join the incredibly rare 3-player server hosting the gamemode that'd occasionally pop up. [sp]it ended up getting remade by someone here which was equally hard to find populated servers for[/SP]
My alltime favourite comic would have to be Concerned, I have no idea how many times I've reread it and it inspired me to create my own for a while. I've met loads of great folk thanks to this game and I sorta appreciate how Facepunch, GMod and the general Source community have all been a fairly stable part of my life for so long
Oh man good times,
I lurked Facepunch since 2007 but only made an account in 2009 since I thought you needed Garry's Mod to post for some reason. I remember the hype when Gmod 13 came out with the bone manipulation stuff and made this masterpiece:
Whatever happened to Spacebuild, anyway? Did people simply just stop working on it?
I'd love to see it get revived somehow. Even if it's just for a short time.
IIRC the original creator of Spacebuild (and quite a few other people) got pissy at Garry for some reason and were Permabanned. He chucked a sad and made a seperate forum for Spacebuild 3, which was becoming a complicated, annoyingly large mess with ugly custom models. A lot of people stuck with Spacebuild 2 since it didn't require downloading gigabytes of models and the gamemode just kinda faded away.
It did get revived a bit a few years ago when a few Youtubers somehow got in running in Gmod 13 but it didn't last long. As someone said before Space Engineers is basicly Spacebuild with voxel building and defiantly worth a play if you have a good enough PC. (it has PLANETS!).
I Remember there was a mod someone was working on the did rough planet gravity and it seems to work pretty well, I think it was called Ussiluss's Universe or something?

I believe I have around ~2000 more hours before steam started recording hours (they started in 2007)

Nope, your hours have been recorded since 2007, however they didn't display on your profile.
10 years holy fuck
happy birthday gmod
if you read the replies to that twitter post, apparently, since release, garry's mod has had 11,953,457 installs.. nearly 12 million
I wish I could go back.
And that's only when it hit Steam.. how long before that was it a thing? I remember building wooden airplanes in 2005 and crashing them. Back when I got HL2 it was specifically for Gmod. I found this website and people were making things called MOPs and I thought they were cool as hell. And here we are today. What a trip.
