I just want actual users hosting servers and mods :-(
I don't it shits up the game.
I don't it shits up the game.
yea dude, servers and mods that don't ever affect you unless you go on them.. such a heartbreaker
Well unlike the whole L4D2 ordeal this one is pretty ridiculous for the most part. I take it this whole multiplayer system is an attempt to cut down piracy so people can't use hamachi or some shit?

Well atleast there won't be a tonne of servers with fake players.

i have never seen any servers with fake players before, maybe i just don't look hard enough
Joined. IW deserve all the hate they can get. They're bigging up a MEDIOCRE shooter as if it's the best game ever.
Give me boxes if you want, you all know it's true.

I've been in plenty, it really ruins the game. :(
These kids want to meet the creators of this game.
Anyway don't be scared, we don't care about this boycott.

Are these servers which will say they have say, 25 people in them, but when you get in there's like 3?

Yeah, but theres usually none in them.
Well I mean they do have pretty legitimate reasons, it is actually a lot more serious and meaningful than the L4D2 boycott.
Give me boxes if you want, you all know it's true.
Psst. You're suppose to do that after you get boxed.
Please IW, don't be dicks dudes.
Maybe they're thinking this will help crack down on piracy
Maybe they have yet to realize that the best way to fight piracy is the Team Fortress 2 way - continuous support.
Multiplayer is what made MW famous, stripping the PC users of their tools will just make more people pirate it just to play singleplayer and then scrap it.
They closed the IW forum thread but not after it reached over 400 pages. The online petition now has about 14400 signatures. And I'm somehow IP banned from the IW forums, without ever having signed up for them.
Good day. Good day.
Hopefully the message got across to em'.
What really got me is that their charging for DLC even though us PC gamers have to pay an extra $10.

It's starting to look like the extra $10 fee is a pre-emptive fee for the upkeep and running of their IW.net servers. At least, that's how I see it.
I would love to join these groups based on my principals, but I don't really want to be associated with boycott groups, and I really feel like the comments were really exaggerated. I'll wait for an official IW statement on them.

Which would be great and I would totally support, if those were one of the options available. I want to be able to choose if I just want to join a quick match (through matchmaking) or join a server from a list.
Not really worth the ten extra Dollars. Especially since a boatload of people are just going to pirate the game for singleplayer. Also, something just hit me. What happens when IW pulls the plug on server support down the road? Does that mean that if I ever want to play a quick MP game with my friends five years down the road (just for nostalgia purposes) that we won't be able to?
This will be the manliest game of all time
Anyone who boycotts it is gay
I'm IP banned from the IW forums too. :sigh:
Im pretty sure the mods and User Hosting will come, but the game hasnt even came out yet. So i dont think theres any need for boycotts. They havent even played the game yet.

Why am I not suprised.

Assholes! They banned our friendly Zips! Make them pay! RAGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
This has somewhat dissuaded me from buying a game that will be rather expensive to begin with
I think this game actually deserves to be boycotted because they're raising the price for the PC game by $10 just because they can
This has somewhat dissuaded me from buying a game that will be rather expensive to begin with
Indeed. $60 Dollars was already pushing it for me, and all these reasons don't convince me it is worth those extra ten.
What is it with games developers not supporting mods these days? Used to be that practically every game out there was moddable now it seems to be only Source and Unreal games.
It's obviously because they're going to make users pay for new DLC for PC versions of the games, and if they allow people to make maps they're just going to make copy versions of them and they no holla dolla.
And people buy the PC version so they can get free DLC.
Valve and Epic respect their user community and their user content.
I don't want this to end up like World at War, where I bought it rather late, and ending up having to spend an extra $30 to be able to play with my friends.
Just treat it like Spore 2.0 [/hint]
