Scum.
so the end justifies the means
yup
Sometimes the means is completely irrelevant.
[editline]7th December 2010[/editline]
I'm not agreeing with what these kids did, btw.
It's not about methods, it's about results. Who cares if a fire is started by either gas and a match, or jet fuel? Point is, a building still burns.
That's an analogy by the way, in case anyone is wondering. It's just showing that it doesn't matter if it's DDOS or something more complex. (I'm also not advocating anything either)
People tend to get anal about DoS attacks not being hacking, it's like if someone beat a door down with a sledge hammer and then got called a lock picker.
So they're support the release of mundane information, that will make no change to the socio-political climate, by committing internet vandalism? Sounds pretty pointless to me.
You should take a small vacation from Facepunch to work on your sentence structuring skills.

its for the simple thing of freedom of speech
its for the simple thing of freedom of speech
Once again, leaking files does not apply to freedom of speech.
You should take a small vacation from Facepunch to work on your sentence structuring skills.
How is this even relevant to the subject? Or is this just a placeholder for a proper rebuttal?
Sometimes the means is completely irrelevant.
not this time though
without the means you just have bank being denied service for what they did, which is completely mundane until given context by it's means, ergo the hackers, the ddos and the whatnot.
Good, they had no reason to freeze his account.
I concur, my good sir.
Once again, leaking files does not apply to freedom of speech.
you said yourself that the files will not hurt anyone so he should be free to do whatever he wants with them.
you said yourself that the files will not hurt anyone so he should be free to do whatever he wants with them.
It's not his property, so he is not free to do what he wants with the files.
All these jackasses that idolize Assange are making things worse. Take down a bank because they cut off his funds? This sort of thing makes Wikileaks look worse.
It's not his property, so he is not free to do what he wants with the files.
You know, it isn't copyrighted.
There are anonymous, then there are real hackers.

Are the wikileaks foundation having a big banner saying "GOGO HACKERS!!"??
Nope
So anyone who think that makes wikileaks look bad, are looking at it from the wrong perspective.
You know, it isn't copyrighted.
Copywritten or not, the files are properties of the respective governments of the diplomats involved.
with irrational acts like these we'll have doomsday before Assange's insurance arrives
hooray
You are happy about doomsday?? When your friends and parents die i bet you will cry.
Large group of people running LOIC =/= hackers
It's not his property, so he is not free to do what he wants with the files.
It SHOULD be the property of the U.S. people, but our government likes to keep secrets; a good deal of which are funded with taxpayer dollars. Julian Assange is bringing transparency to an American government that doesn't want to be transparent. How can you possibly demonize him for that?

Governmental transparency is a joke, a proper government needs to be able to keep secrets from it's people in order to conduct it's actions. A government cannot function, while ever single idiot civilian goes about viewing information they have no information about, it would only lead to complete national dysfunction or total corruption.
Fun fact, US civilians can view many government files legally under the FOIC, given you fill out the proper paperwork, and don't ask to view files that may breach national security.

No. But in the news, in the same articles that talk about Wikileaks, stuff like this will be linked. People could draw the wrong perception.
I'm sure that will help his cause, and make him look good.
Way to go, Internet.
Assange should be killed.
so the end justifies the means
yup
It's not talking about the ends justifying the means...In fact, I said I wasn't advocating anything...I even used those words...brain...logic...failing...arrgg.......
I was merely pointing out that a fire is fire, no matter how you start it. We're talking about the means to an end, not the ends justifying the means. Totally different, and to be honest, I think the only reason you said that was because you wanted to use "so the ends justify the means" in an argument. Kudos, you did, just not a good example.
;26554392']Assange should be killed.
Coming from a guy whose avatar is a picture of Einstein... that sounds really clever.
Care to elaborate on that a little more, please??
Associated Press said it's the Swiss government that shut the account down.
Damn you, Switzerland...
Wait, Switzerland taking sides? SAY IT ISN'T SO!
they so got owned.
You know, it isn't copyrighted.
Neither is your email. If someone hacks your email and posts everything, that's okay because it's "freedom of speech?"
This man is untouchable.
...So far...

as the "Worst Μoderator Ever", you do have a good point...
